Day 20
“Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place & get
some rest.” – Mk.6:31
The Invitation
“Time pressure & deadlines pull you in many directions, & the adrenaline rush of a busy life can be addicting.
Your mind needs rest & renewal.
Come & worship Me in a quiet place, & there you will find refreshment for your spirit, soul, & body.
Allow Me to show you a healthier pace for your life. Praise Me for establishing the boundaries of 24-hour days.
Your body cannot handle going nonstop. When you praise Me, you find renewal in the shadow of My wings.
People, projects, & promotions are not as important as your time with Me. As you lift your focus off your deadlines & onto My face, I will help you prioritize your tasks, & you will feel less stress.
The best prescription for reducing tension is time spent worshipping Me. There, in that sacred Sanctuary, I will soothe your soul.”
Today, during your praise time, don’t put pressure on yourself to think of things to praise God for. Instead, let the praise music simply quiet & refresh your soul. Part of worship is allowing yourself to rest in God’s presence. If you have a job outside the home, you may be facing deadlines that feel insurmountable. If you are at home with toddlers & small children, you may feel pulled in 1,000 directions. When your to-do list comes to mind, purposefully release it into the Lord’s hands. Allow yourself to receive the rest & refreshment that comes from worshiping Him.
“Be still, & know that I am God.” (Ps.46:10)

Pray
Lord, at times it feels as though there are not enough hours in the day. I bow before You as the creator of time. Thank You for the boundary of time. I praise You because You lived & worked on this earth & confined Yourself to a 24-hour day. Because of that, You understand the time crunches I am facing. Thank You for modeling an unhurried rhythm of life even though those around You wanted You to meet their needs. I lay at Your feet every demand, deadline, & difficulty I am facing.
Some of the deadlines I am up against feel impossible, but “with Your help I can advance against a troop & with You I can scale a wall.” I thank You that You will bless me & help me succeed at the things You have called me to do.
I praise You that You will help me to order my day according to Your wisdom & that Your favor will rest on the work of my hands.
Thank You for what You will accomplish through me this day.
