Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain you. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous runs into it and are safe. Who are the righteous? The righteous are those who trust not in their own righteousness to save them, but trust in Me, Jesus, the Christ, the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. These are the righteous who have no righteousness of their own, but have cast themselves wholly on the mercy and goodness of God to save them.
It is not in me. It is not in me. It is only in Him! It's only through the blood of Christ slain on Calvary that we are sanctified, purified, cleansed, washed in His redeeming blood. I have been washed in His blood and He has cleansed me of my guiltiness. I have taken on the righteousness of God found in Christ. I have put on my wedding garment and am clothed in the righteousness of the saints which is in Christ.
For God made Him to be sin who knew no sin that the righteousness which is in God and is in Him might be transported to those that believe. We have put on the righteousness which is in Christ and stand on His righteousness. Not by works of righteousness that we have done has He saved us, but according to His mercy. We look unto the cross and are saved.
"Mercy, Lord Napoleon, Mercy," said the mother of the lad who had fled from the battle and had been found guilty of cowardness and deserving of the death penalty.
"But, Madame, He doesn't deserve mercy," replied Napoleon.
"Very well, Sire, but mercy would not be called mercy if it was deserved."
And so she won Napoleon's mercy, undeserved forgiveness for her son's sin of abandoning the battle and running in cowardness.
We have all abandoned our position and have run in cowardness. We have all fallen short of the glory of God in a grievous way. But God has given us a way of escape. a way to receive His mercy. He Himself came into the world, born of a virgin, fulfilling the ancient prophecies since the Garden of Eden. The Seed of the woman would come and would destroy the head of the Serpent. It is for this reason the Serpent is mad, because he knows he has but a little time.
We too have but a little time, but enough time to fall upon our knees in humble submission to Him who offers us His mercy. We can accept the Messiah Man into our hearts that He might blot out all our transgressions and remove them far from us. That we might receive the righteousness which is by faith in Him and His righteousness might be born in us today. "Cast out our sin and enter in. Be born in us today."
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away. Behold, all things are become new.
