1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
He we see that writer of Hebrews, who some believe was Barnabas that travelled for a time with Paul, is taking a high Christology position. He's identifies Jesus as being so linked with the Father that these verses are used to confirm the idea of the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these three in fact being One.
Of course, the idea of the Trinity is hard for our natural minds to understand. How can three be one? However, if God is God and we are His creatures whom He has made, it should not surprise us, if we do not understand everything about Him. He Himself has said, "As high as the heavens are above the earth, so are My ways above your ways, and My thoughts above your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9.
We shouldn't be surprised that we can not understand the mind of God. "Does the creature say unto his creator, "Why have you made me like this?" "Who has known the mind of God, that he may instruct Him?" Though we are created in God's image with the ability to think, to judge, and to love; there is much about our Creator we don't know.
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
The verse is talking about Jesus who is acting as God in that He is holding the universe and all that is in it together. It also says that Jesus is the "express image" of God. Like Jesus said to Philip when he asked, "Lord, show us the Father, and it suffices us." John 14:8
Jesus responded, "Have I been so long time with you, and yet have you not known Me, Philip? He that has seen Me has seen the Father; and how do you say then, Show us the Father?" John 14:9
Jesus was the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world. Revelation 13:8. He was the pre-ordained plan of the God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, that would bring the world back into reconciliation with God after Adam's sin.
Jesus sits down with the Father on His throne. Together with the Holy Spirit they rule over the creation. The verses in Hebrews are enforcing the idea of the Trinity.
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he brings in the first-begotten into the world, he says, And let all the angels of God worship him.
If worship belongs only to God, why is God telling the angels to worship Jesus? Jesus has told us that He and the Father are one. When we worship and obey Jesus, we are worshipping and obeying the Father. Jesus accepted the worship of His disciples. In worshipping Him, they were worshipping God, for He and the Father are one. One in being, yet separate in personhood.
7 And of the angels he says, Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he says, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou has loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning has laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:

The Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit are one being, and are responsible for the creation of time, space, and matter. The gospel of John has the same imagery.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made." John 1:1-3.
11 They shall perish; but thou remains; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
11 They shall perish; but thou remains; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
Jesus is the same, yesterday, today, and for ever. God never changes. His mercy fail not. They are renewed every morning.
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Jesus is far above the angels. He is the first begotten of the Father, but one in being with the Father. Our Trinitarian belief is that God: including Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, is the eternal being from which all creation exists and by which creation is held together.
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
