God’s Promises for Generous People

God has more promises in the Bible about giving than anything else.
Why?
Because God is a giver, and he wants us to become like him. Everything we have in life is because God is generous.
But giving is hard to do. It challenges our selfishness, so God rewards us when we do it.
One article can’t possibly list the hundreds of promises in the Bible about giving, but I’ve narrowed it down to nine.
Here are nine rewards God promises to those who live generous lives:
1. God promises good things will happen to you. “All goes well for the generous man who conducts his business fairly” (Psalm 112:5 TLB).
Generosity unlocks the key to God’s blessing in your life.
2. God promises your children will be blessed. “The Godly are always generous. Their children will be blessed” (Psalm 37:26 NIV84).
When you model the generosity of God, he not only blesses you, but he passes the blessing on to the next generation.
3. God promises to bless your work and your business. “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine” (Proverbs 3:9-10 NIV).
Almost everyone was a farmer in biblical times. Barns and vats represented a person’s investments and livelihood, and God promised to bless the businesses of people who honored him with their wealth.
4. God promises you’ll be happier. “You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (Acts 20:35 NLT).
I honestly didn’t believe this verse when I was a kid. I’d rather get a Christmas gift than give one. But maturity comes when you realize that there’s more happiness in giving than receiving.
5. God promises your influence will increase. “The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller” (Proverbs 11:24 The Message).
Your world expands when you’re faithful with what God gives you. The opposite is also true—when you’re stingy, your world gets smaller.
6. God promises you’ll end up with more. “Give, and it will be given to you” (Luke 6:38 CSB).
God’s economy says we don’t give to get a blessing; we give to be a blessing. But the truth is, you can’t out give God.
7. God promises to meet all of your needs. “Those who give to the poor will lack nothing” (Proverbs 28:27 NIV).
It sounds too good to be true, but God says it over and over in Scripture: “If you are generous with what I give you, I will meet all of your needs—financial, physical, and spiritual.”
8. God promises to multiply what you give him. “For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you” (2 Corinthians 9:10 NLT).
When you plant a seed, you don’t get a single seed back. You get hundreds of thousands of seeds from just that one seed. It’s the principle of multiplication. God will take what you give him and multiply it, so it goes even further. God does it with money, but he also does it with energy and time.
9. God promises that your giving is stored up in heaven. “Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life” (1 Timothy 6:18-19 NLT).
God has set up a bank account for you in heaven. We know it’s true because Jesus mentioned it five times. It’s more important than your retirement account on earth. It’s going to last trillions and trillions of years. Every time you use “your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends,” you’re investing in this account (Luke 16:9 NLT).
Keep these nine promises in mind as you strive to be faithful in generosity and lead others to do likewise.

Are You Following Your Dreams and Premonitions?

I have been
reading an interesting book entitled, The Supernatural Worldview: Examining Paranormal,
PSI, and the Apocalyptic, by Cris Putnam, published in 2014. Various
chapters in the book deal with dreams, premonitions, and psychic warnings of
future events. Cris takes a scientific approach to these supernatural events
tying to come to the most realistic conclusion.
Did you
know that Abraham Lincoln had a dream of his coming assassination ten days
before it happened? Lincoln dreamt that he was in bed and awoke with an awful
deathlike silence around him. But he noticed a sort of moaning or mourning
sound coming from somewhere in the Whitehouse. He got up and proceeded to
search for the source of the sound. Finally, he entered the East Room and saw a
casket with a dead body draped with a sheet over it. A military guard was
standing around the casket while mourners were weeping nearby. "What has
happened in the Whitehouse?" asked Lincoln. A soldier replied, "The
President has been assassinated."
Lincoln is
reported to have shared the dream with his wife and friend three days before
his death. Strangely enough, Ulysses S. Grant, the military General and leader
of the northern troops was scheduled to attend the fateful theatre event with
Lincoln the night of his assassination. Grant, however, missed the show on the
insistence of his wife who had a premonition that something terrible was going
to happen. Was God trying to warn Lincoln, and he missed the warning or was
reluctant in heeding it?
In another
account, Army Captain A.B. Mac Gowan promised his two boys to a night at the
theatre. The boys had never attended the theatre. Tickets were bought and the boys excitement
raised. However, on the day of the event, the Captain kept hearing that inner
voice of conscience saying, "Don't go to the theatre, take the boys to the
city." How could he do that after having aroused the boys imagination over
the activity. His best friend chided him on hearing he was having doubts about
taking his sons to the event.
Mac Gowan
almost relented, but that voice of conscience was too constant, too persistent
to shake. In the end, they travelled to the city instead, much to the boys'
dismay. But that very night in 1876, the Brooklyn Theatre caught fire with more
than 300 lives lost. Had Mac Gowan not followed the voice of conscience the
story might have had a totally different ending. Mac Gowan's sister who also
attended the show, left early because her brother and nephews were not there.
Leaving early probably saved her life.
In October
1966, a landslide or avalanche from a coal mining operation in Wales led to the
death of 144 people including 116 children. A young girl of ten, the very morning
of the accident, had recounted a dream she had had the night before where
"something black" had covered her school. Hearing of the girl's dream
a national psychiatrist used the press to poll the public to see if others had had a similar premonition
or dream. Some 60 veritable responses were found. One person had even written
down his dream and mailed it to a friend a month before the accident. Was God
sending a warning message, a message that wasn't heeded?
My own life
has been marked by similar occurrences. As a young child I remember my mother
impressing upon us kids some of her spiritual experiences. One night she had a dream where her
God-father, who was terminally ill, came and stood at the bottom of her bed. He
said, "Honey, I'm going now. I love you." The next morning early, my
Mom had a telephone call from her Auntie. "Sophie, your Uncle has
died." My Mom already knew before the phone rang who it was and what the
message would be. Cris Putnam states
that from his investigations he believes that every family has some type of
unexplainable supernatural experience.
My wife had
one such experience, though more akin to Lincoln's dream. She dreamt that her
father had entered a hospital for an examination and had died. It was December,
a very busy time for us, but thinking that maybe her father's death was
imminent, we promised ourselves that we would go for a visit to her parents as
soon as the Christmas and New Year's period was over. However, with a handful
of young kids to attend to, January soon turned to February when we received
the sad news.
Her father
had been having difficulty climbing stairways without getting a pain in his chest.
His local doctor advised him to visit the city hospital for a more thorough
examination, and an appointment was made. He was 72 years old at the time. He
entered the hospital on the morning of the appointment. The doctors decided he
needed a more complete test and he signed the affidavit confirming that he took
the medicine knowing the risk involved. The medicine would enable the doctors
to get a more accurate look at his heart and arteries. He died a short while
afterwards. The cure ended up being
worse than the sickness. Yet, we were stuck with the feeling that had my wife
communicated her dream to her father, had we visited him in time, had we not
procrastinated, his life might not had ended at that moment.
Just
recently, a colleague of mine had a vivid dream in which I had gotten into a
fight with a man dressed in white and he was getting the better of me. On
relating the dream to me, he prayed for my protection and against such a thing
occurring. Later in the day, while delivering humanitarian aid in the form of
fruits, vegetables, and potatoes, to a soup kitchen in the city, I parked our
vehicle on a ramp. The ramp was located behind a large church near to where we
needed to unload the donated goods.
Suddenly, a
man began approaching us yelling that we couldn't park on that ramp as it was a
priority ramp for the handicapped. I was stressed from the hurried 50 km ride
into town to make sure we arrived before the kitchen closed for the day that
Saturday afternoon. I yelled back at the man, "I will park wherever I want
to." Astonished at my reply, he shouted out, "What did he say?"
Thankfully, he was on the passenger side of the car. My friend who was sitting
in the front next to me, looked at me sternly and said, "Remember the man
in white!"
It was then
that I realized that the man was dressed in white clothes, the man of the dream.
He was obviously a man of authority, possibly the top priest of the church, so
I got control of myself and started to remove our vehicle from the handicap
ramp. By then, his assistant, realizing we were making a delivery for the soup
kitchen that the church operated for the homeless and poor, intervened and in
the end we were allowed to park on the ramp. I apologized to the priest, and he
apologized to me, also. A bad situation didn't develop any further because the
Lord had warned us in a dream.
We need to
tune into the spiritual realm and not neglect our time with the Lord. My
friend, who is 75 years old, spends his mornings in prayer, praise, and reading
God's word. His prayerfulness has saved us on various occasions from serious
accidents or troubles. Please take those dreams and premonitions seriously.
They may keep you safe or save a life.
I wanted to
add another message the Lord gave my wife in a dream. We were involved in a
court case for custody of our children over our home-schooling activities. My
wife was very anxious because we knew the prosecuting attorney was going to ask
us questions about our lifestyle and faith beliefs. About a week before the
trial date she had a dream that the prosecuting attorney would ask her a
question about why the children hadn't been vaccinated. During that week she
researched and found good arguments to be able to rationally defend our
position to not vaccinate. On the day of the court trial, that was the very
question the attorney asked. God had revealed to her what to prepare and she
did and gave a coherent reply to justify our position. The judge sided in our
favor and God got a great victory out of a seeming impossible situation.

known unto him in a vision, and I will speak unto him in a dream.

prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.
Job
33:14-17 MSG God always answers, one way or another, even when people don't
recognize his presence. In a dream, for instance, a vision at night, when men
and women are deep in sleep, fast asleep in their beds - God opens their ears and impresses them with
warnings to turn back from something bad they're planning, from some reckless
choice, and keep them from an early grave, from the river of no return.

Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his
servants the prophets.

together. We knew now for sure that God had called us to preach the good news
to the Europeans.

Supreme Court Still on Track to Overturn Roe, No Conservatives Have Changed Position
A new report today from Politico says the Supreme Corut is still on track to overturn Roe v. Wade and an ultimate decision on the Dobbs case is expected by the end of June.
Politico, which initially published the news of the leaked draft of a Supreme Court decision overturning Roe, indicates no conservative members of the Supreme Court have changed their position. In fact, no competing draft has been authored and there is not even a single written dissent that has reportedly been published.
Although Americans are in favor of overturning Roe and 11 recent polls show Americans are pro-life on abortion, abortion activists have engaged in violence, vandalism and heated protests in response to a leaked draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court that overturns Roe v. Wade. They hope to somehow persuade one or more Supreme Court justices to change their mind.
Apparently they have failed in their mission.
The Supreme Court is set to gather Thursday for the first time since the disclosure that it voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, and there’s no sign that the court is changing course from issuing that ruling by the end of June.

Justice Samuel Alito’s sweeping and blunt draft majority opinion from February overturning Roe remains the court’s only circulated draft in the pending Mississippi abortion case, POLITICO has learned, and none of the conservative justices who initially sided with Alito have to date switched their votes. No dissenting draft opinions have circulated from any justice, including the three liberals.
That could explain why no second draft of Alito’s majority opinion has been distributed, as typically the two sides react to one another’s written arguments and recast their own.
Politico reports that the Supreme Court justices are very angry by the threats, harassment and violence from the left in response to the leaked draft as well as the leak itself.
“This is the most serious assault on the court, perhaps from within, that the Supreme Court’s ever experienced,” said one person close to the court’s conservatives, who spoke anonymously because of the sensitive nature of the court deliberations. “It’s an understatement to say they are heavily, heavily burdened by this.”
A second person close to the court said that the liberal justices “are as shocked as anyone” by the revelation. “There are concerns for the integrity of the institution,” this person said. “The views are uniform.”
Chief Justice John Roberts was not counted in the vote in the 5-3 draft that was initially released and is thought to be trying to persuade one member of the conservative majority to abandon the position overturning Roe in favor of upholding Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban and allowing states more latitude to ban late abortions without overturning Roe entirely.
But, according to Politico, he’s not finding any takers. That likely means he will side with liberals against overturning Roe but upholding the law.
“However, the draft majority opinion wound up being written by Alito, and its strident text signals it is unlikely Roberts will be on board,” it reports.
As all this is happening, Altio and his family have reportedly been moved to a location that will not be revealed. Last week, Alito canceled an appearance at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ judicial conference. Although no official reason was given for the cancellation, the move came only days after the leak.
Late Friday, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas had a message for the radical abortion activists who think they can bully the Supreme Court into revising its draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade: You can’t bully us.
Thomas spoke at the 11th Circuit judicial conference in Atlanta where he discussed the Supreme Court’s leaked draft opinion for the first time.
As a society, “we are becoming addicted to wanting particular outcomes, not living with the outcomes we don’t like,” Thomas said.
“We can’t be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a symptom of that.,” Thomas said, according to reports.
Chief Justice John Roberts spoke at the same conference Thursday, where he called the leak “absolutely appalling.” He, too, said the violence and attacks form pro-abortion activists would not influence the Supreme Court’s final decision.
Pro-life pregnancy centers and pro-life advocates already have been the targets of vandalism, violence and harassment this week in response to the news. At least one Catholic church has, too, and more seems likely in the days ahead. Abortion activists bombed a pro-life group’s office, causing extensive damage.
Abortion activists are trying to intimidate U.S. Supreme Court justices to change their mind and uphold Roe after the leaked draft opinion showed the majority voting to overturn the infamous 1973 ruling. The draft is not final, judges can change their minds, and it is not clear when the high court will issue its final ruling on the abortion case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, but many believe the court will overturn Roe and allow states to protect unborn babies again.
Along with the violence of abortion against unborn babies, threats and violence against pro-life advocates also have increased in recent years. LifeNews.com has documented reports of hundreds of incidents in recent years, including bomb threats, assaults, death threats, arson and vandalism.
And violence by abortion activists likely will continue as the U.S. Supreme Court gets ready to issue its final ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health this summer. If the court overturns Roe, the Guttmacher Institute predicts that 26 states would ban abortions.
Since 1973, more than 63 million unborn babies and hundreds of mothers have died in supposedly “safe, legal” abortions.

What Being God's Image Bearers Means

Knowing that we as individuals, and all human beings, are made in God’s image, what does that mean in our everyday lives? Is it significant? Should it affect our thinking and actions? The simple answer is yes, it should.
Being the only created thing that God said is made in His image and likeness shows that human beings are special in God’s eyes. The Bible states that humankind is at the pinnacle of physical creation and that God put man in place to rule and take care of the earth.
“What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.”1
God has made humans to be different from all other physical creatures. He has placed humans above the other creatures and has made them distinct. While He created us along with all other things, He made us different from all other created things by making us in His image. He created us as unique beings and intimately breathed life into us.2
He made us personal beings, able to enter a relationship with Him and other humans. He made us a combined physical and spiritual being by giving us body and spirit. And even though all humans have sinned against Him, He loves us so much that He made a way for humanity to become reconciled with Him through the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus.
God loves His image-bearing creatures, and He values us. Because God values human beings, each has intrinsic, essential value. This should cause us to value each human being. All humans, no matter what their gender, race, skin tone, or creed, are created equal. Each person bears God’s image and should be respected and treated as such. Neither one’s place nor one’s value in society diminishes a person’s intrinsic value.
Authors Lewis and Demarest put it this way:
Each person is of inestimable temporal and eternal value and significance. Persons have this inward worth inalienably as creatures of God made in the image of God. Their value goes far beyond that of their amazing bodies or that of being the highest animal on earth. Their value is not diminished when for some reason and for some time they are not useful to society in the form of their family, church or nation. Every living human being is of intrinsic worth—poor or rich, female or male, educated or not, lighter or darker—because he or she is an endlessly existing active spiritual person like God.3
Newborns, children, the elderly, the infirm, the disabled, the mentally retarded, the unborn, the hungry, widows, and prisoners, those you disagree with, even enemies—every human being, no matter what their condition, circumstance, or religious belief—has the dignity of being God’s image bearer, and deserves—and should be granted—equal honor and respect by all other human beings.
Seeing others as God’s image bearers should rid us of racial, religious, and all other prejudices. It should cause us, as individuals, to view and treat others with respect, regardless of our differences.
It should also cause us to look at ourselves with respect and dignity. To realize that God loves and values us should help us to value ourselves mentally, physically, and spiritually. It should cause us to view ourselves positively, to take care of ourselves physically, to nurture our spirits with positive and godly input. It should remind us of the sanctity of our own lives, thus keeping us from harming ourselves in any way.
We should recognize that despite any personal weaknesses or failures, how we may perceive our own worth, how we view our physical appearance or our education or mental abilities, we are valued by God and thus should value ourselves.
Realizing that God values human beings, that He loves and cares for us, should cause us to value humanity, to recognize the worth of every person, ourselves included, and to do what we can to live in harmony and peace with others. In short, we should love and care for our neighbor, because God does.
Besides loving and caring about others and caring for ourselves, as those given dominion over the earth, we are responsible to care for and use its resources wisely. When God created the earth and all that is in it, He said it was good. He then told man to be in charge of it, to take care of it. It is up to us, as those given dominion over this good earth, to be good stewards of the environment, to wisely and judiciously and equitably use its resources for the benefit of humankind. We are to value the earth as part of God’s creation, and not to greedily exploit it or otherwise damage, endanger, or destroy it.
Sin brought separation from God, and it has brought a serious deterioration in His image and likeness within humankind. Sin has negatively affected our conscience, our ability to do God’s will, our desire to align our will with God’s, our thought processes, our decision-making, our motives, etc. God’s Word says that because sin entered humanity, we are slaves to it.
Through salvation, we are spiritually born again. It makes us new creatures in Christ, and this greatly affects our lives. Salvation breaks the bondage of sin, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit—God living in us—makes it possible for us to grow into greater likeness of Christ. Jesus was the image of God on earth, and as we become more like Him, we grow in the image and likeness of God. “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.”4
Growing in Christ’s image is a progressive growth which comes over time, in degrees, through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. “We all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”5
Even though as Christians we still sin, salvation sets us free from the dominion that sin has over us. We become dead to sin, in that we have the power to overcome acts or patterns of sinful behavior. “But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.”6
Salvation doesn’t make us sinless, but as we grow in our Christian life and walk with the Lord—a process called sanctification in theology—we are better able to not sin. In this lifetime no one can reach a state of sinless perfection, as sin will not be entirely eradicated. Sanctification, or growth in our walk with the Lord, is a process in which regenerate persons, depending on God’s help, work toward spiritual growth, obedience to and application of God’s Word in their lives.7 As we spiritually grow, we can progressively transform more into the likeness of God. As we grow and mature in our faith, we exhibit more of the fruit of God’s Spirit in our lives.
As Christians who grow in our faith, we can become more like Jesus, and thus exhibit more of the image and likeness of God in which we are made. As His image bearers, we should strive to become more like Him. As His witnesses, we should reflect Him, so that others will see Him in us and thus want to come to know Him.
“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”8

Leftists Publish Home Addresses of Conservative Supreme Court Justices

The move comes after a draft of a Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked on Monday.
A group named “Ruth Sent Us” is now calling for disruption and violence in Catholic churches, as well as protests outside the private homes of Supreme Court justices and their families. These radicals even published the justices’ home addresses.
As National Review reports, “a leftist group called Ruth Sent Us posted what it claims are the home addresses of the Court’s six conservative justices online in preparation for an organized “walk-by protest” set to take place outside the justices’ homes next week.”

Ruth Sent Us plans to dispatch demonstrators to “the homes of the six extremist justices” on Wednesday, May 11, according to the group’s website.
“ANNOUNCING: Walk-by Wednesday, May 11, 2022! At the homes of the six extremist justices, three in Virginia and three in Maryland. If you’d like to join or lead a peaceful protest, let us know,” the website states.

In collaboration with Vigil for Democracy, Ruth Sent Us generated and posted a Google Maps graphic pinning what it claims are the home addresses of Justices Barrett, Kavanaugh, Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Roberts, where they presumably reside with their families. Vigil for Democracy titled the map, “Extremist Justices,” adding, “Where the six Christian fundamentalist Justices issue their shadow docket rulings.” The map has 3,185 views so far.
In Virginia, where three of the six justices live, protesting outside a private home is illegal.
The pro-life group CatholicVote is asking Joe Biden to condemn the protests. In an email to LifeNews, it said Biden “has failed to condemn these domestic terrorist threats against his own people.”
“Anti-Catholic zealots are plotting to intimidate and harass Catholics across the country, along with justices and their families. This country was built on freedom of speech and freedom of religion. The President of the United States must stand up for both,” Brian Burch of CatholicVote said. “These threats follow a record number of attacks on Catholic churches, shrines, and symbols over the past two years.”
“Just this week another Catholic church in Boulder, CO was desecrated by pro-abortion activists. We call on responsible leaders in Washington to unequivocally condemn these dangerous threats before they lead to violence, or worse,” he added. “They’re coming for our churches. But we will not be discouraged. We will not back down.”
As NR reports, other violent leftist groups are getting involved with the protests outside the homes of Supreme Court justices.
The website also links to a different organization, “Strike for Choice,” which has been endorsed by radical leftist groups including Black Lives Matter, Code Pink, Women’s March SF, Kavanaugh Off Our Court, and Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights.
On the fundraising page for Strike for Choice, called the Open Collective, Justin Russell and Snowden Bishop, who seem to be affiliated with the leftist website JustResisting.com, are listed as either administrators or core contributors.

Chief Justice John Roberts Confirms Draft Overturning Roe is Real
Chief Justice John Roberts has issued a statement confirming the leaked draft of a Supreme Court decision overturning Roe is genuine and he says the nation’s highest court will launch an internal investigation about the leak.
As LifeNews reported, in a monumental decision that could finally end an era of abortion on demand and 63 million babies killed in abortions, the Supreme Court has reportedly issued a decision overturning Roe v. Wade. This is according to a release of a draft of the decision.
“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the draft opinion of the court dated February 10.
Today, in a statement issued by the Supreme Court, Roberts condemned the leak.
“Although the document described in yesterday’s reports is authentic, it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case,” he says.
He calls it a “singular and egregious breach of that trust that is an affront to the Court and the community of public servants who work here” and says he has asked the Marshal of the Court to investigate.
Roberts promises that the leak and subsequent intimidation campaign from the left to get the Supreme Court to change its potential vote to overturn Roe will not affect the eventual outcome.
“We will not allow this leak to undermine the work of this Court.”

There was speculation previously that Roberts was not writing the case and concern that he could try to influence the other justices to oppose overturning Roe. Since he confirmed the draft is genuine, the former appears true.
According to Politico the decision is not final and could change but the leaked draft of the opinion has four justices — Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett — joined Alito while three — Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan — dissented.
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” the opinion reportedly continued. “It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
Roberts has yet to cast his vote and it is unknown which side he will vote with, Politico reported.
