The Marriage Supper of the Lamb
What is happening during that period of time from
the end of the Great Tribulation until the abomination gets taken away, some 30
days later? We will have to look at the beginning passages of Revelation 19
to come up with a good idea.
Revelation 19:1-4 “And
after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying,
Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
For true and righteous are his judgments: for he has judged the great whore,
which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of
his servants at her hand. And again, they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up
for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down
and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.”
Revelation 19:5-9 “And a
voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and
ye that fear him, both small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a
great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty
thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigns. Let us be
glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come,
and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be
arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness
of saints. And he said unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto
the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said unto me, These are the true
sayings of God.”
What could be taking
place during those first 30 days following the Rapture? According to Revelation
19, God’s people will be enjoying the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. What a
fitting time for all of God’s children to celebrate together at the table of
the Lord and enjoy His presence. His bride, made up of the true obedient
believers, has made herself ready for her wedding celebration.
Another verse in Revelation
seems to be depicting the same event.
Revelation 11:18 “And the
nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that
they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants
the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great;
and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.”
Just as the 75-day Wrath of God is getting started
on earth, in the heavenlies, the raptured saints are receiving their rewards.
God in the meanwhile has started pouring out the vials or bowels of His wrath
upon those who have been destroying the earth.
Daniel 12:1 “And at
that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which stands for the
children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was
since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people
shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”
Daniel seems to be describing the Great Tribulation period in a similar way to the way Jesus did in Matthew's Gospel.
Matthew 24:21-22 "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened."
It is at the end of the 1,260-day tribulation that Jesus comes back and sends forth His angels to gather together His elect from the four winds of the earth.
Matthew 24:29-31 “Immediately
after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon
shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers
of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the
Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and
they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and
great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a
trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one
end of heaven to the other.”
Daniel 12:2 “And
many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to
everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.”
Similar to 1 Thessalonians 4, we see the dead in Christ rising first.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 “For the
Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”
Will those that
were really dedicated to Christ and His message be the ones who are shining
brightly? Will those that did little be the ones in everlasting contempt?
Daniel 12:3 “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.”
Those who have been
faithful witnesses shall have a greater reward and shine because of it.
Matthew 5:11-12 “Blessed are ye, when
men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil
against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for
great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were
before you.”
Matthew 5:14&16 “Ye are
the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men that they may see
your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we
(the believers in Jesus) must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;
that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he has
done, whether it be good or bad.”
1 Corinthians 3:14-15 “If any
man's work abide which he has built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If
any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be
saved; yet so as by fire.”
2 Timothy 2:20-21 “But in a great house
there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of
earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If
a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour,
sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.”
1 Corinthians 4:5
“Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will
bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the
counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God”
