Salmo 41:1. Bem-aventurado é aquele que considera o pobre; o Senhor
o livrará no dia do mal.
O próprio Jesus foi
desprezado e rejeitado, um homem de dores e experimentado no sofrimento. Foi
oprimido e afligido, IsaÃas 53:3&7. Contou aos Seus discÃpulos a
seguinte parábola.
Mateus 25:34-40 34. Então dirá o Rei aos que
estiverem à sua direita: Vinde, benditos de meu Pai. Possuà por herança o reino
que vos está preparado desde a fundação do mundo; porque
tive fome, e me destes de comer; tive sede, e me destes de beber; era
forasteiro, e me acolhestes; estava nu, e me vestistes;
adoeci, e me visitastes; estava na prisão e fostes ver-me. Então
os justos lhe perguntarão: Senhor, quando te vimos com fome, e te demos de
comer? ou com sede, e te demos de beber? Quando te vimos
forasteiro, e te acolhemos? ou nu, e te vestimos? Quando
te vimos enfermo, ou na prisão, e fomos visitar-te? E
responder-lhes-á o Rei: Em verdade vos digo que, sempre que o fizestes a um
destes meus irmãos, mesmo dos mais pequeninos, a mim o fizestes.
Madre Teresa, e São Francisco antes
dela, e muitos outros trabalharam com os pobres na busca de cumprir os
mandamentos de Jesus sobre a ajuda aos pobres. Vamos fazer o mesmo de qualquer
forma que pudermos.
Salmo 41:2-3 O Senhor o guardará, e o conservará em vida; será abençoado na
terra; tu, Senhor não o entregarás à vontade dos seus inimigos. O Senhor o sustentará no leito da enfermidade; tu lhe amaciarás a
cama na sua doença.
Deus prometeu que se formos fiéis no
cuidado das pessoas nas nossas vidas que Ele coloca nos nossos caminhos, Ele
cuidará de nós. Vemos o mesmo sentimento em IsaÃas.
IsaÃas 58:6-11 Acaso
não é este o jejum que escolhi? que soltes as ligaduras da impiedade, que
desfaças as ataduras do jugo? e que deixes ir livres os oprimidos, e despedaces
todo jugo? Porventura não é também que repartas o teu pão com o faminto,
e recolhas em casa os pobres desamparados? que vendo o nu, o cubras, e não te
escondas da tua carne? Então romperá a tua luz como a alva, e a tua cura
apressadamente brotará. e a tua justiça irá adiante de ti; e a glória do Senhor
será a tua retaguarda. Então clamarás, e o Senhor te responderá;
gritarás, e Ele dirá: Eis-me aqui. Se tirares do meio de ti o jugo, o estender
do dedo, e o falar iniquamente; E se abrires a tua alma ao
faminto, e fartares o aflito; então a tua luz nascerá nas trevas, e a tua
escuridão será como o meio dia. O Senhor te guiará continuamente, e te
fartará até em lugares áridos, e fortificará os teus ossos; serás como um
jardim regado, e como um manancial, cujas águas nunca falham.
Senhor, ajuda-nos a meditar nas Tuas
palavras e a aplicá-las nas nossas vidas para que sejamos abençoados. Se
queremos ser felizes e saudáveis nesta vida e na vida futura, vejamos como
podemos ajudar os necessitados que nos rodeiam.
Salmo 41:4 Disse eu da minha parte: Senhor, compadece-te de mim, sara a minha
alma, pois pequei contra ti.
Quando estamos doentes, procuramos na
nossa alma para descobrir se a nossa doença é o resultado de nos termos
desviado do caminho de Deus. O próprio Jesus nunca pecou, mas levou os
pecados do mundo para a cruz.
IsaÃas 53:5-8 Mas
ele foi ferido por causa das nossas transgressões, e esmagado por causa das
nossas iniquidades; o castigo que nos traz a paz estava sobre ele, e pelas suas
pisaduras fomos sarados. Todos nós andávamos desgarrados como ovelhas,
cada um se desviava pelo seu caminho; mas o Senhor fez cair sobre ele a iniquidade
de todos nós. Ele foi oprimido e afligido, mas não abriu a boca; como um
cordeiro que é levado ao matadouro, e como a ovelha que é muda perante os seus
tosquiadores, assim ele não abriu a boca. Pela opressão e pelo juÃzo foi
arrebatado; e quem dentre os da sua geração considerou que ele fora cortado da
terra dos viventes, ferido por causa da transgressão do meu povo?
Salmo 41:5 Os meus inimigos falam mal de mim, dizendo: Quando morrerá ele, e
perecerá o seu nome?
Os fariseus e os chefes
religiosos queriam que o nome de Jesus perecesse. Mas como o apóstolo Pedro
respondeu:
Atos 4:10-12 Seja conhecido de
vós todos, e de todo o povo de Israel, que em nome de Jesus Cristo, o nazareno,
aquele a quem vós crucificastes e a quem Deus ressuscitou dentre os mortos,
nesse nome está este aqui, são diante de vós. Ele é a pedra que foi
rejeitada por vós, os edificadores, a qual foi posta como pedra angular.
E em nenhum outro há salvação; porque debaixo do céu nenhum
outro nome há, dado entre os homens, em que devamos ser salvos.
Os lÃderes religiosos aconselharam-se
então sobre o que fazer e decidiram:
Atos 4:17-20 Mas,
para que não se divulgue mais entre o povo, ameacemo-los para que de ora em
diante não falem neste nome a homem algum. E,
chamando-os, ordenaram-lhes que absolutamente não falassem nem ensinassem em
nome de Jesus. Mas Pedro e João, respondendo, lhes
disseram: Julgai vós se é justo diante de Deus ouvir-nos antes a vós do que a
Deus; pois nós não podemos deixar de falar das coisas que
temos visto e ouvido.
Não devemos esconder a verdade de Deus
dentro de nós, mas falar a Sua verdade corajosamente com amor e humildade.
Atos 4:13 Então
eles, vendo a intrepidez de Pedro e João, e tendo percebido que eram homens
iletrados e indoutos, se admiravam; e reconheciam que haviam estado com Jesus.
1 Pedro 3:15 Antes
santificai em vossos corações a Cristo como Senhor; e estai sempre preparados
para responder com mansidão e temor a todo aquele que vos pedir a razão da
esperança que há em vós.
Salmo 41:6-8 E, se algum deles vem ver-me, diz falsidades; no seu coração amontoa
a maldade; e quando ele sai, é disso que fala. Todos os
que me odeiam cochicham entre si contra mim; contra mim maquinam o mal, dizendo:
Alguma coisa ruim se lhe apega; e agora que está deitado, não se
levantará mais.
Tal como aconteceu com
Job, quando os maus acontecimentos acontecem nas nossas vidas, os outros podem
presumir que o que está a acontecer é o resultado do julgamento de Deus sobre
nós por causa do pecado. A BÃblia diz que a maldição sem causa não vem. Contudo,
Jesus não tinha pecado. No caso de Job, Deus permitiu as suas aflições como
prova. O inimigo pode estar a atacar-nos por causa do nosso bom trabalho para o
Senhor. Não caiamos na condenação, pois as misericórdias de Deus duram para
sempre.
Salmo 41:9 Até o meu próprio amigo Ãntimo em quem eu tanto
confiava, e que comia do meu pão, levantou contra mim o seu calcanhar.
Os primeiros
expositores concordaram que a palavra profética que aqui se encontra, dita por
Jesus em João 13:18 e explicada por Jesus, indica que o salmo é
aplicável ao Messias.
João 13:21 Tendo Jesus dito isto, turbou-se em espÃrito, e declarou: Em
verdade, em verdade vos digo que um de vós me há de trair.
Salmo 41:10 Mas tu, Senhor, compadece-te de mim e levanta-me, para que eu lhes
retribua.
Deus foi misericordioso
com Jesus e ressuscitou-O ao terceiro dia para que Ele pudesse responder aos
Seus inimigos, tanto fÃsicos como espirituais.
No Sermão da Montanha,
Jesus disse:
Mateus 5:44-45ª Eu, porém, vos digo: Amai aos vossos inimigos, e orai pelos
que vos perseguem; para que vos torneis filhos do vosso
Pai que está nos céus.
No entanto, nas Suas parábolas, Ele
revela claramente que há juÃzo para o Ãmpio, se este não se desviar da sua
maldade.
Lucas 19:27
Mas os meus inimigos, que não quiseram que eu reinasse sobre eles, trazei-os
aqui, e matai-os diante de mim.
Mateus 24: 48-51 Mas
se aquele outro, o mau servo, disser no seu coração: Meu senhor tarda em vir,
e começar a espancar os seus conservos, e a comer e beber com os
ébrios, virá o senhor daquele servo, num dia em que não o
espera, e numa hora de que não sabe, e cortá-lo-á pelo
meio, e lhe dará a sua parte com os hipócritas; ali haverá choro e ranger de
dentes.
Salmo 41:11-12 Por isso conheço eu que te deleitas em mim, por não triunfar de mim
o meu inimigo. Quanto a mim, tu me sustentas na minha
integridade, e me colocas diante da tua face para sempre.
Os inimigos de Jesus não triunfaram, o
que significa “gritar de alegria na vitória”, sobre Ele. Ressuscitou dos mortos
e está sentado à direita do Pai. Ele dá-nos poder sobre a morte e o inferno.
Ele chama-nos a tornarmo-nos filhos de Deus. Por isso, não devemos temer
aqueles que podem matar os nossos corpos, mas sim temer Aquele que é capaz de
destruir tanto as nossas almas como os nossos corpos no inferno.
Mateus 10:32-33 Portanto,
todo aquele que me confessar diante dos homens, também eu o confessarei diante
de meu Pai, que está nos céus. Mas qualquer que me negar
diante dos homens, também eu o negarei diante de meu Pai, que está nos céus.
Apocalipse 22:12-14 E
eis que cedo venho; e a minha recompensa está comigo, para retribuir a cada um
segundo a sua obra. Eu sou o Alfa e o Ómega, o princÃpio e o fim, o primeiro e
o derradeiro. Bem-aventurados os que guardam os seus mandamentos, para que
tenham direito à árvore da vida, e possam entrar na cidade pelas portas.
Salmo 41:13 Bendito
seja o Senhor Deus de Israel de eternidade a eternidade. Amém e amém.

Blessed Is He That Considers the Poor! - Psalm 41

41:1 Blessed (or Happy) is he that considers the poor (or weak,
persecuted, oppressed, destitute, or afflicted): the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
Jesus
Himself was despised and rejected, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.
He was oppressed and afflicted, Isaiah 53:3&7. He told His disciples
the following parable.
Matthew
25:34-40 Then shall the King say unto them
on his right hand, Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for
you from the foundation of the world: For I was hungry, and you gave me meat: I
was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in:
Naked, and you clothed me: I was sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and
you came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him,
saying, Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You? or thirsty, and gave
You drink? When did we see You a stranger, and take You in? or naked, and
clothed You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come unto You? And
the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, In as much as you
have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, you have done it unto Me.
Mother
Teresa, and Saint Francis before her, and many others have travailed with the
poor in seeking to fulfil Jesus’ commandments on helping the poor. Let us do
the same in whatever way we are able.
Psalm
41:2-3 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him
alive; and he shall be blessed (or prosper) upon the earth: and You will not
deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen
him upon the bed of languishing: You will make all his bed in his sickness, (or
be like a nursing father).
God has
promised that if we are faithful to care for others in our lives who He brings
along our paths, He will care for us. We see the same sentiment in Isaiah.
Isaiah
58:6-11 Is not this the fast that I have
chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let
the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Is it not to deal your
bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your
house? when you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you hide not yourself
from your own flesh (family)? Then shall your light break forth as the morning,
and your health shall spring forth speedily: and your righteousness shall go
before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your reward. Then shall you call, and
the Lord shall
answer; you shall cry, and He shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the
midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; And
if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then
shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness be as the noon day: And the Lord shall guide you
continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat your bones: and you
shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail
not.
Lord,
help us to meditate on Your words and apply them to our lives that we may be
blessed. If we want to be happy and healthy in this life and the life to come,
let us see how we can help those in need around us.
Psalm
41:4 I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I
have sinned against thee.
When we
are sick, we search our souls to find out if our sickness is a result of having
wandered from God’s path. Jesus Himself never sinned, but He carried the sins
of the world to the cross.
Isaiah
53:5-8 But He was wounded for our
transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our
peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have
gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us
all. He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is
brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
so He opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who
shall declare His generation? for He was cut off out of the land of the living:
for the transgression of My people was He stricken.
Psalm
41:5 My enemies speak evil of me, When
shall he die, and his name perish?
The
Pharisees and religious leaders wanted Jesus’ name to perish. But as Apostle
Peter responded,
Acts
4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to
all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom
you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him does this man stand
here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you
builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in
any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby
we must be saved.
The
religious leaders then counselled together on what to do and decided,
Acts
4:17-20 But that it spread
no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak
henceforth to no man in this name. And they called them, and commanded them not
to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and
said unto them, Whether, it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you
more than unto God, judge you. For we cannot but speak the things which we have
seen and heard.
Neither
should we hide God’s truth within us, but speak forth His truth boldly with
love and humility.
Acts
4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of
Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they
marvelled and took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
1
Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in
your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a
reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.
Psalm
41:6-8 And if he comes to see me, he
speaks vanity: his heart gathers iniquity to itself; when he goes abroad, he
tells it (or spreads it abroad). All that hate me
whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt. An evil
disease, say they, cleaves fast unto him: and now that he lies he shall rise up
no more.
As with
Job, when bad events happen in our lives, others may assume that what is
happening is a result of God’s judgment on us because of sin. The Bible says
that the curse causeless does not come. Yet, Jesus was without sin. In the case
of Job, God allowed his afflictions as a testing. The enemy may be attacking us
because of our good work for the Lord. Let us not fall into condemnation for
God’s mercies endure forever.
Psalm
41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in
whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
Early
expositors agreed that the prophetic word found here as spoken by Jesus in John
13:18 and explained by Jesus, indicates the psalm in applicable to the
Messiah.
John
13:21 Verily, verily, I say unto you, that
one of you shall betray me.
Psalm
41:10 But You, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up,
that I may requite (or respond to) them.
God was
merciful to Jesus and did raise him up on the third day so that He could
respond to His enemies both physical and spiritual.
In the
Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said,
Matthew
5:44-45a Love your enemies, bless them
that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that
despitefully use you, and persecute you. That you may be the children of Your
Father which is in heaven.
However,
in His parables He clearly reveals that there is judgment for the wicked, if he
turn not from his wickedness.
Luke
19:27 But My enemies, which would not that
I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before Me.
Matthew
24:48-51 But and if that evil servant
shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming; And shall begin to smite his
fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that
servant shall come in a day when he looks not for him, and in an hour that he
is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with
the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Psalm
41:11-12 By this I know that You favour
me, because my enemy does not triumph over me. And as for me, You uphold me in
my integrity, and set me before Your face for ever.
Jesus’
enemies did not triumph, which means “shout for joy in victory,” over Him. He
rose from the dead and sits at the right hand of the Father. He gives us power over
death and hell. He calls us to become sons of God. Therefore, we should not
fear those that can kill our bodies, but rather fear Him who is able to destroy
both our souls and our bodies in hell.
Matthew
10:32-33 Whosoever therefore shall confess
Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven. But
whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father which
is in heaven.
Revelation
22:12-14 And, behold, I come quickly; and
My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am
Alpha and Omega, the beginning, and the end, the first and the last. Blessed
are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of
life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Psalm
41:13 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and
to everlasting. Amen, and Amen. (or, truly I say, Amen.)
