The Scofield Connection and the Pre-Tribulation Fallacy with Corrie Ten Boom's Perspective! - Chapter 47

The Scofield Connection – The Pre-Tribulation Fallacy with Corrie Ten Boom’s Perspective

I have just been re-watching Bill Salus’s video on America in Bible Prophecy.[1] Bill comes out as a defender of the pre-tribulation rapture. Many Christians hold dearly to the pre-tribulation rapture escape doctrine in spite of the fact that it is contrary to sound doctrine and traditional Bible interpretation held for hundreds of years by our Christian forefathers. I will need to make a short case to refute the pre-tribulation doctrine as it is called.
Up until the 1830s no one had ever heard of such a doctrine. Since the time of Christ the church had taught that the true believers would suffer persecution for their faith. Jesus, himself, had said,

The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you.[2]

Apostle Paul when writing to the Corinthian believers said,

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.[3]

In fact in the book of Hebrews the eleventh chapter we find a history of the heroes of faith of times past many who died for their beliefs.
And others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: and others had trial of cruel mocking and scourging, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in mountains, and in dens and in caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.[4]
In 1563 Foxe's Book of Martyrs was first published. Written by John Foxe the Protestant theologian and leader, it was a famous collection of the history of the Christian martyrs from the time of the Christian persecutions by Nero to the then present.[5] In it, over and over again, one could see that God did not always rescue His beloved servants, but He gave them strength to suffer and die for their faith. As Apostle Peter had said,

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s suffering; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.[6]

The mentality of the Christian believer for eighteen hundred years was that he was going to suffer for his Christian faith and world view in this life. Jesus had told us so,
If the world hates you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.[7]

However, that all changed around the 1830’s when John Nelson Darby a famous Plymouth Brethren preacher in England visited a spirited revival in Glasgow, Scotland. A young woman named Margaret MacDonald, a member of the congregation, shared a revelation she claimed to have received of the Lord. She believed that the church would not go through tribulation in the last days but would be miraculously saved by Christ. Darby incorporated this idea into his own Biblical framework and eschatology.[8]
Later, C. I. Scofield amplified Darby’s teachings and spent various years researching and footnoting Biblical passages to reinforce the pre-tribulation idea. Scofield himself seems to have a dubious background. He abandoned his first wife and two children after being released from jail. He had been serving time for his part in a railroad scam including criminal forgery. He then adopted as his mistress a young woman from the St. Louis Flower Mission whom he afterwards left for a rich widower.[9]

Scofield’s financial supporters were wealthy Jewish businessmen who were determined that the Jews should have a homeland, a place where they could be safe from religious persecution. We do not know for sure that their motivation was humanitarian, as some believe it was totally diabolical. We do know that Scofield worked in their employ for many years and used as his residence the famous Lotus Club in New York City indirectly owned by some of these financial barons.
One of the first Scofield met was Samuel Untermeyer, who later became chairman of the American Jewish Committee, president of the American League of Jewish Patriots, and chairman of the Non-sectarian Anti-Nazi League. Untermeyer introduced Scofield to such influential Jewish leaders as Samuel Gompers, Fiorello LaGuardia, Abraham Straus, Bernard Baruch, and Jacob Schiff. Scofield later travelled to Europe where he studied and researched at Oxford and elsewhere at their expense. They later arranged the publication and distribution of his concordance and annotated Scofield Reference Bible in 1909.[10]

The result was the Scofield Bible footnotes and concordance adhered to a thoroughly pro-Jewish interpretation of the Scriptures. His footnotes reinforced the idea that the Jews were still God’s chosen people despite the fact that they had denied Christ and instigated His death. Scofield not only incorporated the pro-Jewish doctrine into his Bible footnotes, but also, the pre-tribulation doctrine and the doctrine of millions of years of theistic evolution.
Somehow, Scofield became a good friend of Dwight L. Moody. When Moody died suddenly in 1899 at the age of 62, it was Scofield who gave the first funeral eulogy of the great evangelist. In fact Scofield was known as Moody’s pastor. Scofield’s Reference Bible with his footnotes was later adopted by the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and the Torrey Bible Institute in Los Angeles. As a result Scofield’s doctrines influenced all the Full-Gospel Businessmen, the Fundamentalist and Evangelical churches and universities. The Scofield Reference Bible became the favorite study Bible of almost all Protestant pastors. It is impossible to overstate the influence of Cyrus Scofield on twentieth-century Christian beliefs. His Bible has been the standard reference work in virtually all Christian ministries and divinity schools in the USA during the last century.[11]
I want to finish this chapter with a warning from a famous Evangelist, Miss Corrie Ten Boom. Miss Boom was a Dutch survivor of the WWII Nazi Concentration Camps. Because of a typographical error, she was miraculously released from a camp where her sister had died. Her mother and father had also died in a previous camp. On her release Corrie returned to Holland and after the war worked with victims of Nazi brutality.

She taught and lectured on forgiveness travelling even in Germany. She noted that those who had the power to forgive were able to readjust to post war life and to reincorporate into society. Those however who held unto bitterness became incapacitated and were unable to find fulfillment in the post war period. Corrie became a world traveler speaking about her WWII concentration camp experience. Her famous book, The Hiding Place[12] documents her experience and was also made into a movie.[13]
During her travels to China, she was able to speak with the leaders of the underground Christian Chinese church. She learned that it was the pre-tribulation doctrine that had caused the Chinese Christians to be unprepared for the persecution which they experienced under Mao. The Chinese Christians implored Corrie to warn the Christians in the West of the dangers of such a doctrine. In 1974, Corrie published an article Prepared for the Coming Tribulation, from which I will paraphrase.

Corrie believes the world is deadly ill and dying. But although the world is dying and God has signed its death certificate, He still needs His ambassadors, His over-comers, to be streams of living waters and channels of mercy to the dying world.

In Ravensbruck, the concentration camp where Corrie’s sister Betsy died, she and her sister had been God’s representatives from Heaven. They were there because they had helped persecuted Jewish families. Seven hundred people from Holland, Russia, Poland, and Belgium were crammed into a room built for a mere two hundred. As far as Corrie knew, she and her sister were the only representatives’ of God’s Kingdom in that room. But because of their presence and because of their sharing their faith with others, things changed. Jesus said,
In the world you shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.[14]

Corrie says that we can be over-comers today by bringing the love and light of God to a world filled with darkness and hate. When we read the Bible we may even get frightened as we read of the promised tribulation and persecution that are to come. We even see them coming true today. But we can still shout “hallelujah,” because Jesus has said,

He that overcomes shall inherit all things: and I will be His God, and he shall be My son.[15]

This is the future and hope of this world. Not that the world will survive – but that we shall be over-comers in the midst of a dying world.[16] - Corrie Ten Boom
Corrie went on further and said she could not understand why God let her sister die in that horrible concentration camp. But later, she realized that Betsy’s death was the catalyst that caused Corrie to end up travelling the world to tell people about Jesus. But she warned:

There are some among us teaching there will be no tribulation, that the Christians will be able to escape all this. These are the false teachers that Jesus was warning us to expect in the latter days. Most of them have little knowledge of what is already going on across the world. I have been in countries where the saints are already suffering terrible persecution.[17]
Corrie goes on to explain about what happened on her visit to China. The Chinese Christian leaders said that the American missionaries had told them that before the tribulation would come they would be raptured away. Therefore, the Chinese Christians were not prepared for tribulation or persecution. They were expecting God to supernaturally save them. But then the Chinese communists came and millions were tortured to death. The Chinese Christians encouraged Corrie to warn the west of the coming persecution. She writes:
In America, the churches sing, "Let the congregation escape tribulation", but in China and Africa (and throughout the Middle East and India) the tribulation has already arrived. In last year alone, more than two hundred thousand Christians were martyred in Africa. Now things like that never get into the newspapers because they cause bad political relations. But I know. I have been there. We need to think about that when we sit down in our nice houses with our nice clothes to eat our steak dinners.
Many, many members of the Body of Christ are being tortured to death at this very moment, yet we continue right on as though we are all going to escape the tribulation. I feel I have a divine mandate to go and tell the people of this world that it is possible to be strong in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are in training for the tribulation, but more than sixty percent of the Body of Christ across the world has already entered into the tribulation. There is no way to escape it….We are next![18]
Corrie also tells us how we can get ready for the persecution that will come one day. First of all she says we need to feed on God’s Word and digest it so that it becomes part of our very being. Like Joshua said to the Jews as they entered the promise land:

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shall meditate upon it day and night that thou may observe to do all that is written therein, for then shall thou make thy way prosperous and then thou shall have good success.[19]
Corrie says we should have disciplined Bible study each day, not only to memorize Bible passages, but to apply those passages to our lives. She goes on to say that we need to develop a personal relationship with Jesus, not the Jesus of yesterday, but the life-changing Son of God who is alive and well and willing to move in the hearts of men today.

We need an infilling of the Holy Spirit as a priority. The disciples of the past could not have stood up against the horrible persecution they received without the power of the Holy Spirit. Neither will we be able to face the coming persecution and tribulation without our own personal infilling of the God’s Spirit. Nor must we wait until tribulation comes before starting to encourage one another.

The fruit of the Spirit should be the dominant force of every Christian's life.[20]
We also may be fearful of the coming tribulation. But as Corrie says, when we are weak, then He can be strong in us.[21] If we have been faithful in preparation, the mighty inner strengthening of the Holy Spirit will help us through. We may not be strong in ourselves, but we will be strong in Him who will make us more than conquerors.[22] And though it may seem He slays us, by not saving us from the persecution or tribulation, yet will we trust in Him[23]; knowing that if we endure until the end, we shall receive a crown of life![24] Get ready. It’s later than we think!

All Bible verses are from the King James Bible, although I have changed some of the old English. Any similarity to any modern version is only by coincidence. Bible verses other than the King James have been foot-noted properly.

Scofield

Before his alleged experience of Christian conversion, Scofield had failed as a lawyer, been involved in a political scandal, had been an alcoholic, & defrauded his fellows of their money in a railroad scam, as well as his wife’s mother in a real estate swindle. Of course, what happened after his conversion (the specifics of which are proven to be fabricated, including the time, place & other particularities) is what matters: In that period of his life, he abandoned his wife & 2 daughters, took a mistress, misrepresented his war record to his own benefit, & conferred upon himself an unearned doctorate title. It must be said that showing Scofield to be a scoundrel does not in itself undermine the ideas he promoted. To claim otherwise would be to employ the logical fallacy of ‘argumentum ad hominem’ -- attacking someone’s character rather than engaging their ideas. But because it is impossible to overstate the influence of Scofield on 20th-century Christianity: his heavily-annotated Bible is the standard reference work in virtually all Christian ministries & divinity schools, so considering the impact he has had on Christendom, his life should be examined. The type of person that he was had a major influence on the theology that he taught.

1Tim.3:2-7 – “A bishop then must be blameless, sober, of good behaviour, not given to wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; not covetous; one that ruleth well his own house. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without.”

“É necessário, pois, que o bispo seja irrepreensível, temperante, sóbrio, ordeiro, não dado ao vinho, moderado, inimigo de contendas, não ganancioso; que governe bem a sua própria casa. Também é necessário que tenha bom testemunho dos que estão de fora.”

Tit.1:7-11 – “For a bishop must be blameless; not self-willed, not given to wine, not given to filthy lucre; a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; holding fast the faithful Word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort & to convince the gainsayers. For there are many unruly & vain talkers & deceivers: whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.”

Cyrus Scofield was born 19 August 1843 near Detroit, Michigan. His family was nominally Episcopalian. His mother died 3 months after his birth, & his father twice remarried during Cyrus' minority. In 1861 Scofield was living in Tennessee, & at the beginning of the American Civil War, the 17-year-old enlisted in the Confederate Army. In 1862, after spending a month in a hospital, Scofield successfully petitioned for a discharge. He then returned to Tennessee, & was conscripted into Southern military, so he deserted & escaped behind Union lines. In 1873 he worked for the election of (Jewish) John J. Ingalls as Senator from Kansas, & when Ingalls won, the new Senator then pulled strings to get Scofield appointed Federal District Attorney for Kansas. That same year Scofield was forced to resign under a cloud of scandal because of questionable financial transactions, including accepting bribes from railroads, stealing political contributions intended for Ingalls, & securing bank promissory notes by forging signatures. While in prison for his scams, Scofield began studying the philosophy of John Darby, leader of the Plymouth Brethren movement & the “any moment now” Rapture doctrine. Upon his release, & perhaps in part because of his heavy drinking, Scofield then abandoned his wife & children, & he took as his mistress a young girl from a Mission in St. Louis. He later dumped her for another woman, whom he eventually married.

During the early 1890s, Scofield began styling himself “Rev. C.I. Scofield, D.D.”; but there are no records of any academic institution having granted him the Doctor of Divinity degree. In 1895, Scofield attempted to take over Moody’s Northfield Bible Training School. Later, Scofield left the Congregational Church to become a Presbyterian. His relationships with his children by his second wife were distant at best. Scofield provided deliberately inaccurate personal information to Who's Who & to his official biographer, & was not above distorting the facts. The title page of his famous annotated 1909 Bible, with introductory essays to its books & sections, & extensive footnotes interpreting the text according to a presupposed scheme, & a system of marginal cross references, lists 7 "consulting editors" -- but apparently this was just a ruse to get more support. Royalties from the work were substantial, & Scofield bought real estate in 3 states.

Following his Illuminati connections to NY, he settled in at the Lotus Club, where that he was taken under the wing of Samuel Untermeyer, Chairman of the American Jewish Committee. Untermeyer introduced Scofield to numerous Zionist leaders, including Samuel Gompers (labor syndicate founder), Fiorello LaGuardia (Congressman, 3x mayor of NYC; grandmother a Kabbalist), Isidor Straus (a Rothschild partner, eventual owner of Macy’s), Bernard Baruch (“advisor” to Presidents Wilson & FDR, major Wall St financer, Chairman of the War Industries Board) & Jacob Schiff (spent $20,000,000 for the triumph of Communism). These behind-the-scenes handlers were the people who financed Scofield's “research” trips to Europe & arranged the publication & distribution of his Bible, & also saw to it that his swindles & schemes were swept under the rug & that only a positive image of him was promoted, especially an exaggeration of his Biblical knowledge & wisdom. Thirty-third-degree Freemason George Dealey, owner of the Dallas Morning News, contributed greatly to the cause.

The lawyer firm in NYC of which Untermeyer was the leading partner (Messrs. Guggenheim, Untermeyer & Marshall), is still today one of the nation's most prominent & most prosperous law companies. Untermeyer contributed generously to the National Democratic Committee that installed Wilson as President in 1912. He was a “Special Advisor” to the government in the interpretation & enforcement of the income tax law, & participated in preparing the Federal Reserve Bank Law.

One day, Untermeyer told Wilson that he had been hired to bring a breach of promise action against him. Untermeyer informed that his client was willing to accept $40,000 [the equivalent of $975,600 in 2013 dollars] in lieu of commencing the legal process. Untermeyer's supposed client was the former wife of a Professor at Princeton University, from when Wilson taught there. Untermeyer produced a packet of letters from his pocket, written by Wilson to his colleague's wife, which established the adulterous relationship that had existed. Wilson examined them & acknowledged his authorship.

Wilson's former sweetheart had divorced her husband & married again. Her second husband had a grown son in the employ of one of the leading banks in Washington. He explained that this son was in financial trouble & needed $40,000 badly & quickly, as he told the story, to liquidate a pressing liability. Wilson declared that he did not have the money to pay his blackmailer. Untermeyer then offered a solution to the President for his problem.

He volunteered to give the woman the funds out of his own pocket, on the condition that Wilson promise to appoint to the first vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court the nominee of Untermeyer’s choice. Untermeyer retained the love-letters, probably to further threaten him should Wilson step out of line. This deal was to bring to pass a dream close to his heart -- a Talmudist Jew on the Supreme Court. The day soon arrived. Untermeyer named Louis Dembitz Brandeis from Boston for the vacancy, who was immediately appointed by Wilson, & they became unusually intimate friends, Brandeis knowing the circumstances of his appointment. By 1914, Justice Brandeis was the most politically-influential of all Zionists in the U.S.

After the Oct16 agreement concluded between the British War Cabinet & the World Zionist Organization, the Talmudists were hopeful that an international incident would soon occur to justify a declaration of war against Germany by the U.S. Brandeis instructed the President that the 24Mar16 attack by a Nazi submarine on the French S.S. Sussex Channel ferry justified going to war against Germany, so Woodrow “He-kept-us-out-of-the-war” Wilson got Congress to declare hostilities on 7Apr17, as it was given out falsely that 78 Americans had been killed (some were injured, but none died).

This guaranteed the Talmudists that Palestine was to be turned over to them upon the defeat of Germany, as it technically was by the Balfour Declaration, sent 2Nov17 to Baron Walter Rothschild. But very few Jews wanted to leave their homes for a desert, surrounded by Arabs. So when Hitler had been soundly financed by international Jewish bankers, Untermeyer went on radio Aug33 to call for war again on Germany. He had just returned from a world conference of Jews at The Hague, Holland. In the broadcast, he called for a “holy war,” & described the Jews as “the aristocrats of the world.” His organization, known as the “International Boycott on German Goods,” promoted worldwide an intense “Hate Germany” campaign.

Scofield's heresies promoting an earthly Zionist NWO quickly became fashionable among the apostate denominations, especially idolatrized among the Southern Baptists & their heavily Masonic Lodge membership. Rabbis everywhere must be laughing that their Scofield scam has worked out so beautifully.

A Little History: Cyrus I Scofield and the Tribulation

http://proliberty.com/observer/20090507.htm
After reviewing Revelation and the Rothschild connection (The IO, April, 2009), it occurred to us that the article was lacking in details connecting Cyrus Scofield to the Rothschilds and the meaning of Tribulation (that is tribulation with a capital T). So, down the rabbit hole we went with Scofield. This character’s life is filled with so many anomalies and obfuscations that he fits a pattern that has been established by an, if you will pardon the pun, "illuminative" research model pioneered by Don Nicoloff. In essence, you can take any political figure of prominence today or in history and trace their lives backwards and you will find that names, dates and places do not add up as they do with most people. Further research into family ties, ship manifests and public records reveals that many people of power and influence were operatives and spies for old money with European allegiances. Scofield, as it turns out, fits this bill.

By Anne Wilder Chamberlain

Don K Preston, in his book, In Flaming Fire (2005), delves deeply into the question of whether or not the tribulation in the letters of the apostle Paul to the Christians at Thessalonica is spelled with a capital "T," as asserted by followers of the Scofield Reference Bible (revised 1917), an annotated King James Version study Bible, edited by Cyrus I Scofield, and published by the Oxford University Press.

The Greek word for tribulation is "thlipsis," which means "persecution." The antithesis to "thlipsis" is "anesis," which means "relief."

Preston points out that 2 Thessalonians 1:1-7 clearly reveals that Paul was writing to a group of living Christian believers suffering persecution (thlipsis) at the hands of their persecutors (the Jewish Church leaders) and he clearly promises these Christians relief (anesis) in their lifetime (v. 7) when Jesus returns. Preston states that either Paul lied to the Thessalonians (his prediction failed and he is therefore a false prophet), or he told them the truth and their persecutors were persecuted (thlipsis) in kind at the coming of Christ (v. 6-8).

Those who claim that Paul was writing to Christians 2000 years hence should try applying that logic to any letter written to themselves by any missionary or teacher sending a message of hope to them.

Preston states that Jesus came "in flaming fire" as a spiritual force of retribution at the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, just as God had at its prior destruction as described in Isaiah 2:10, 19, and 21, and 4:2, which Paul quotes in his first letter to the Thessalonians (2:15-17).

Who first taught pretribulation rapture?

Dave MacPherson, author of the book The Rapture Plot (2005) and Ed Tarkowski, a Christian essayist, trace the origin of pretribulation rapture. From the early Church fathers until the Reformation, the generally accepted view of Bible prophecy was "linear historic," that Revelation was in the process of being fulfilled throughout the Christian era. But in the 16th century, a new view of Bible prophecy was devised by a Jesuit priest to stop the Reformers from teaching that the Catholic Church was probably the "whore of Babylon" of Revelation 17:3-6.

In 1591 AD, the Jesuit Ribera invented a "futurist" view. He claimed that Revelation would not be fulfilled until the end of the Christian Era. Ribera taught of a rebuilt Babylon, a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem and an end-time Antichrist, near the end of the age of the "three and a half years" when the books of Daniel and Revelation would be fulfilled. The Antichrist would be a person to rise in the future. He also brought forth the idea of a rapture, but not at the beginning or end of Daniel’s "70th week" (see Revelation and the Rothschild connection). He wrote that the Church would be taken to heaven 45 days before the end of the three and a half years.

In 1767, a Chilean-born Catholic Priest, Manuel de Lacunza y Diaz came to Imola, Italy, when the Jesuits were expelled from Spain because of their brutality. There he claimed to be a converted Jew named Rabbi Juan Jushafat Ben-Ezra. Under that alias, he wrote a 900 page book titled, The Coming of Messiah in Glory and Majesty. Lacunza theorized that the Church would be taken to be with the Lord to escape the reign of Antichrist in the last 3-1/2 years of the age, some 45 days before Jesus’ final return to Earth. During that 45 days (while the Church was in heaven), God would pour out His wrath upon the wicked remaining on Earth.

In 1828, "Glory and Majesty" was translated into English by a radical cultist London preacher named Edward Irving. Lacunza’s views could have died there, for most in England saw Irving as a heretic.

At the same time Margaret MacDonald from Port Glasgow, Scotland, claimed she received divine revelations from God about a rapture. According to MacPherson, Miss Margaret had occultic ties, including a friendship with a girl who was into psychic powers and automatic writing. She sent her vision in a letter to Irving and, shortly thereafter, her revelation showed up in print. In September, 1830, The Morning Watch, a periodical put out by Irving’s church, published, "Commentary on the Epistles to the Seven Churches in the Apocalypse."(1)

According to James Whisler (2), the MacDonald clan was intimately associated with the Knights Templar - Margaret’s hometown being in one of the main areas that the Templars sailed to and settled in when they left France. He added, these "Satanic bloodlines" often chose the Christian religion as a cover to hide their origins and their true religion.

About the same time as Margaret Macdonald’s vision, John Nelson Darby was playing with the dispensationalist idea of dividing history into ages or "dispensations." Many prophecy teachers of today credit John Darby with the origin of these teachings because he was a well-educated man who authored many books. In fact, Darby went to see Margaret and her family shortly after she gained notoriety for her vision, and in later years, claimed them as his own.

With financial backing, the "vision" spread

Darby then headed out, promoting, improvising and adding to his new doctrine. He came to America several times and traveled all across the country to preach dispensation. As "luck" would have it, there always seemed to be wealthy benefactors nearby. This included men like eccentric banker Henry Drummond, who was involved from the beginning, making his resources available to Irving’s church in London and continuing to support the movement. Researcher Robert L. Pierce noted "…Darby’s unusual mobility, for his day and time and his seeming lack of financial problems."

On at least one occasion Darby went to Saint Louis and met with Presbyterian minister James H. Brookes (1830-1897), Scofield’s mentor and a key leader in the Niagara Bible Conferences. The conferences were held annually from 1876 to 1897, initially in different resort locations around the U.S. and, as of 1883 at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario—the Queen’s Royal Hotel. It was there that the fundamentalist movement was born and solidified. It then began to shape the Christian landscape in the United States and laid the foundation for "Premillennialism," the foundation for Christian Zionists.

The conferences attracted some of the most well known Christian leaders of the time, including D. L. Moody, a world known evangelist who founded the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA). Cyrus Scofield’s financiers knew that if Scofield could be moved into those organizations, the dispensationalist doctrine could be spread faster and further into the Christian community.

"Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." -- Matthew 7:20

At the outbreak of the American Civil War, Cyrus I. Scofield (1843-1921), a Michigan native, lied about his age in order to enlist in the Confederate Army in 1861, where he served in the 7th Tennessee infantry for a year.

In 1866 he married a Roman Catholic girl named Leontine Cerre. They had two girls, Abigail and Helene.

According to sweetliberty.org (3), as a young con-artist in Kansas after the Civil War, Scofield met up with John J. Ingalls, an aging Jewish lawyer/senator. Pulling strings both in Kansas and with his compatriots back east, Ingalls assisted Scofield in gaining admission to the Bar and procured his appointment as the federal attorney for Kansas. Scofield committed perjury when he took his oath, stating that he had never voluntarily borne arms against the United States. He was forced to resign after six months because of questionable financial transactions.

By 1877, Scofield was making a living on swindles and schemes and writing bogus checks. Ingalls and Scofield became partners in a railroad scam which led to Scofield serving time for criminal forgery.

In 1879, while he was in prison, a group of Christian women who had a jail ministry witnessed to Scofield and he made a profession of faith in Christ. He then began to study the writings of John Darby and embraced Darby’s theology about the rapture and the need for Jews to resettle the land of Israel

Upon his release from the prison, Scofield began to work in the evangelical campaign of D. L. Moody. In 1879, Scofield became acting secretary of the YMCA and was licensed to preach in 1880. (4)

Torell (3) stated he believes that Ingalls informed his Jewish peers that Scofield would be the perfect candidate to develop and penetrate fundamental Christian churches and denominations. All it would take was the right "handlers" and cash.

At this time Scofield "happened to be in the one city" singled out by Darby for "planting the seed" of his "special brand of Bible teaching," and they met.

Then on November 6, 1879, a criminal case against Scofield was dismissed in an Appeals Court.

In 1877, Scofield had deserted his first wife and his two daughters and left them destitute. According Wikipedia, this was "perhaps because of alcoholism," but Joseph Canfield (3) asserts: "The very sudden quashing of the criminal charges without proper adjudication suggests that Scofield’s career was in the hands of someone who had clout never available to either Ingalls, Pomeroy, or anyone of the Choteau Clan. But, the career was to be of such a nature that Leontine, the Catholic wife, had to go."

Scofield then took as his mistress a young girl from the St. Louis Flower Mission. He later abandoned her for Hettie Hall von Wartz whom he married in 1884. Leontine filed for divorce in 1881, finalized in 1883, listing "abandonment" as a reason.

The apostle Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 3:2-4: "A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre….One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity."

Scofield’s supporters kept his background secret for a long time in order to make him a licensed minister of the Gospel. The only biography his life is a collection of "Sunday School" articles by Charles G. Trumbull. Published into a book, The Life Story of C.I. Scofield in 1920 by the Oxford Press, it is the official "white wash" to clean up Scofield for future generations. It contains many inaccuracies, including a "conversion" story that happens, not in jail, but at a law office that did not even exist at the time.

The Scofield Reference Bible

In 1895 Scofield was asked to be a pastor at one of Moody’s churches in Northfield, MA. By now he had built up a "clean" reputation and was ready to be moved there to larger work.

He seemed to have access to money above what he earned as a minister; his backers included New York Jewish lawyer Samuel Untermeyer and Union 76 oil baron Lyman Stewart.

In 1901, Scofield was offered a membership in the Lotus Club of New York, a prestigious club in the literary circles of the United States catering to non-Christians. This was a club in which one had to be invited and have a sponsor. He settled there and listed it as his residence for the next 20 years. It was here that he presented his ideas for a new Christian Bible concordance, and was taken under the wing of Untermeyer (1858-1941)—a criminal attorney well known for his political connections, bribery and for being a fanatical Zionist agent of the Rothschild banking cartel.

Untermeyer introduced Scofield to numerous Zionist and socialist leaders, including Samuel Gompers, Fiorello LaGuardia, Abraham Straus, Bernard Baruch and Jacob Schiff. These people financed Scofield’s research trips to Oxford and arranged for the publication and distribution of his concordance.

One of Scofield’s first moves in producing his reference Bible was to take a trip to the British Isles for research. He immediately sought out the controversial scholars Westcott and Hort in London. Hailed as Bible scholars, both men were very active in occult rituals. Westcott had formed a secret club called "Hermes," noted for aggressive homosexual activities between its members. In 1851, Hort and Westcott also started the Ghost Society, which was first billed as the study of spiritual events, but in time it became more of a séance group. Its members included Arthur Balfour who, in 1917, bequeathed Palestine to the Rothschilds as "a national home for the Jewish people."

The following passage is from page two of the Introduction to the 1945 edition of the Scofield Bible: "….The discovery of the Sinaitic MS, and the labours in the field of textual criticism of such scholars as…..Westcott and Hort, have cleared the Greek Textus Receptus of minor inaccuracies….."

The comment memorializes Scofield’s reliance on Wescott and Hort and explains Scofield’s justification for tampering with the word of God.

And the reason is…

"Why would a wealthy German Jew like Untermeyer living in America sponsor Scofield and spend money on a man who was working on a new Bible translation and preaching Jesus Christ?" Torell asked.

Jewish leaders long ago recognized the bonanza for them if they could force the teaching of an imminent rapture on Christians and move them to abandon their moral hold on society. Darby was financially supported and Scofield, Darby’s successor, could make this teaching central in all Christian churches. Removal of Christians from politics and public schools would leave the door open for Jewish writers and political leaders to move in and remove the Bible and prayer from public schools and political institutions. The ACLU is a Jewish organization, having only a few Gentiles in it for window dressing, he stated.

In 1907, the International Zionist movement had its "payday" when, after some 120 years they were finally able to have a document produced that would forever change the theology of Christian churches around the world so that, in time, believers in Christ would be transformed into Christian Zionists. Even though they had to "pay good money" to further the cause of fundamentalism, it was worth it to them because the fundamentalists would be led like a bull with a ring in his nose in the direction the Jewish masters wanted them to go.

Forty-one years later, the political state of Israel came into existence. "Without the Scofield Bible, it never would have happened," Torell said.

It is impossible to overstate the influence of Cyrus Scofield on 20th century Christian beliefs. The Scofield Bible is the standard reference work in virtually all Christian ministries and divinity schools. It is singularly responsible for the Christian belief that it is Hebrew Prophecies that describe the pre-Tribulation Second Coming of Jesus, and not, instead, a Zionist vision of a man-made New World Order.

Note: The Scofield rabbit hole is getting deeper...

The progenitor of "dispensationalism" and the "Rapture," Scofield and his Bible have come under scrutiny in recent years by biblical scholars and historians alike. Those researchers question the unlikelihood that Scofield could have penned that literary work, given his propensity to swindle many of his Christian followers and unsuspecting business associates prior to his having been "saved."

Embarking upon the exact research model that revealed the invented genealogies of the "Bush (Scherff)/Walker" clan, the "McCain" (McCann) clan and the "Dunham/Obama/Soetoro families," this author immediately recognized the prototypical obfuscation and deceit that follows those whose life mission is dictated by the international bankers who bribe INS agents, government officials and anyone else likely to stand in their way.

The religious author who sought to create a chronological study of biblical events and prophecies somehow neglected to employ the same standards when documenting the facts behind his own turbulent life. It appears that family members, business associates, and his European handlers left similar blemishes on Scofield’s life chronology, leading this journalist to conclude that his biography is but another fictional account intended to hoodwink the masses.

The absence of the normal, provable details in Cyrus Ingerson Scofield’s biographical history can only be explained by considering that the records, themselves, have likely been "raptured" into oblivion. Fortunately, for those who seek the truth, Scofield left a trail in his wake. And so did his Illuminati handlers. We are hot in this trail. ~Don Nicoloff

CYRUS SCOFIELD -- WHO WAS HE?

Following is an excerpt from The Unified Conspiracy Theory.

The information is intended to supplement the references to C.I. Scofield in Charlie Samples' THE GREATEST HOAX

To begin to understand the hoax... the lies into which we've all been born, both of the above linked articles are strongly recommended.

The 'belief' was injected into our Christian minds as babes that "In the end times Jesus will return to reign on earth for a thousand years of PEACE" (after which, Satan will once again be released, which makes NO sense at all anyway).

To realize that this story runs on a perfectly parallel path with the Talmudic political program of World Dominion -- under the rule of MAN, who refers to himself as "the chosen"; to realize that the story is one and the same is startling to say the least.

That parallel path is not intended to clash, conflict, or cross at some junction, but to so slowly and subtly merge together that we will simply open our eyes one day to the awareness that we are on the same path with two separate destinations in mind.

2,300 years ago, Plato called it 'The Third Way'. Today, the Democrats call it 'The Third Way'; the Republicans call it 'Compassionate Conservatism'. A merging of what has been presented as diametrically opposed concepts.

Jews have been awaiting their messiah for 3,000 years; while we Christians have been awaiting the return of our Messiah for 2,000... and the same small group made up the same story for all of us. Jesus called that group Pharisees, including with the Pharisees as perpetrators of the lie... the Scribes. Today, we call them lawyers.

So hundreds of millions of mind-manipulated people excitedly cry,

"Bring it on! Bring it on! Bring on the chaos, perversion, death and destruction! It's in the book! Bring on the vaccines that are killing our children! Bring on the chem-trails leaving their trails of death and disease! Bring on the New World Order under control of the International Zionist Jews who control their useful idiots at the United Nations. It's god's plan! Bring on the Terminator Seed, Bovine Growth Hormone, irradiated food, genetically engineered non-food! Our messiah is coming!"

In truth, it is a whopper of a lie. It is a deadly lie, and if we don't wake up to it - Jew and Christian alike - we'll all end up slaves in a world that, I believe, will be more evil than we could bear to consider... or be included in their plans for depopulation. -- Jackie --

We now enter the phase of the Illuminati and the Great Awakening,

Cyrus Scofield and the subversion of modern Christianity

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"And no marvel for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works" --- Rabbi Saul of Tarsus - 1 Corinthians 11:14-15.
The key to understanding this is in the Hebrew Prophecies themselves. It is made absolutely clear that the Jews are first to achieve dominion over the nations of the earth, and then Zion will be proclaimed over the whole.
"And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and even upon her assemblies, a cloud of smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense." --- Isaiah 4:5, King James Version
A defense against what? If this is to be the kingdom of Christ Jesus, what need for a defense, Christian? And yet you teach that Zion is Jesus' earthly kingdom because this is what your church elders had been taught by Cyrus Scofield, editor of your Bible concordance. He went to great efforts to convince you that Isaiah and Micah's "mountain of the Lord's house" is supposed to mean the millennial kingdom of Jesus Christ. That is a lie; his argument is a fraud, yet you can't see it.
Jesus' kingdom needs no pillar of fire and smoke to protect it. The word "Zion", in Hebrew, means "Sepulchre". Solomon's Temple was built on Mount Moriah, not on Mount Zion. Mount Zion lies to the south of the Old City, separated by a narrow valley, and to the southwest of the Mount of Olives. Mount Zion is also known as Golgotha – the "Hill of Skulls" – or Calvary.
Zion and Calvary are one and the same. Jesus was crucified on Zion! The Christian confusing of Zion with the Rebuilding of the Second Temple is a mistake, the result of bad geography and/or a metaphorically bizarre Kabbalistic joke.
Is the Sepulchre to be the place of Redemption? [Freemasonry! ]
Was Jesus not crucified on the same spot where Abraham had built an altar to sacrifice his son, Isaac? What is the relationship between Jesus and Zion?
Who taught us to use that word?
Can you see how we have been deceived by our own Christian churches, taught to worship our doom in the Antichrist?
The text of Isaiah 2:1 clearly states "The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem." Are you a Jew? Will you be allowed to worship in the Third Temple when it is built? Methinks not!
What was Cyrus Scofield trying to hide from us?
"The Tetragrammaton appears to have its origin in the phrase found in Exodus 3:14, "I am that I am". Before this it was known as the Shem ha-meforash, the seventy-two syllabled name of God, made up of 216 letters.
The source of the Shem ha-meforash, according to tradition, are verses 19-21 of Exodus xiv, each of the three verses containing seventy-two Hebrew letters. The letters of verse 19 were written down in separated form and in correct order; the letters of verse 20, also in separated form, were written down in reverse order, and the letters of verse 21 were written down in correct order.
Reading from above down, one obtains seventy-two three-letter names, all of which combine to make one. To these three-lettered names were then added either AL or IH to form the names of the seventy-two angels of Jacob's ladder." Charles Ponce Kabbalah
The type of permutation described above is called Temura, and it is a common Kabbalist device. The three verses of Exodus 14:19-21 that constitute the Shem ha-meforash happen to describe how a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night appeared just prior to Moses' leading the Hapiru across the Red Sea into the desert. This is a cipher, so that wherever a "pillar of fire by night" or "cloud by day" is mentioned in the Bible, one may substitute the Shem ha-meforash to obtain the proper Kabbalistic interpretation.
The Kabbalists know that the Shem ha-meforash – the Seventy-two Syllabled Name of God, the Seventy-two Angels of Jacob's Ladder, the seventy-two Sanhedrin – are also the seventy-two proper names of daemons, who are sealed in the Key of Solomon. This Key is used by the Practical Kabbalist to construct talismans by which he may summon, or conjure, these beings. To the Speculative Kabbalist the names represent the seventy-two dominions, principalities, elementals, powers and paths over which he seeks mastery.
Thus, from a Kabbalistic perspective, the verse of Isaiah 4:5 is stating that after the Mountain of Zion has been constructed, the deity shall assign seventy-two daemons – an infernal Sanhedrin, if you will – to watch over Zion and protect it.
And that, my dear reader, is exactly what Cyrus Scofield called the Kingdom of Jesus! That, Christian, is what your ministers taught you is Jesus' Second Coming! Ye worship ye know not what!
And who was Cyrus Scofield?
As a young con-artist in Kansas after the Civil War, he met up with John J. Ingalls, an aging Jewish lawyer who had been sent to Atchison by the "Secret Six" some thirty years before to work the Abolitionist cause. Pulling strings both in Kansas and with his compatriots back east, Ingalls assisted Scofield in gaining admission to the Bar, and procured his appointment as Federal Attorney for Kansas. Ingalls and Scofield became partners in a railroad scam which led to Cyrus serving time for criminal forgery.
While he was in prison, Scofield began studying the philosophy of John Darby, pioneer of the Plymouth Brethren movement and the "any moment now" rapture doctrine.
Upon his release from prison, Scofield deserted his first wife, Leonteen Carry Scofield, and his two daughters Abigail and Helen, and he took as his mistress a young girl from the St. Louis Flower Mission. He later abandoned her for Helen van Ward, whom he eventually married. Following his Illuminati connections to New York, he settled in at the Lotus Club, which he listed as his residence for the next twenty years. It was here that he presented his ideas for a new Christian Bible concordance, and was taken under the wing ofSamuel Untermeyer, who later became chairman of the American Jewish Committee, president of the American League of Jewish Patriots, and chairman of the Non-sectarian Anti-Nazi League.
Untermeyer introduced Scofield to numerous Zionist and socialist leaders, including Samuel Gompers, Fiorello LaGuardia, Abraham Straus, Bernard Baruch and Jacob Schiff. These were the people who financed Scofield's research trips to Oxford and arranged the publication and distribution of his concordance.
It is impossible to overstate the influence of Cyrus Scofield on twentieth-century Christian beliefs. The Scofield Bible is the standard reference work in virtually all Christian ministries and divinity schools. It is singularly responsible for the Christian belief that the Hebrew Prophecies describe the kingdom of Jesus' Second Coming, and not the Zionist vision of a man-made New World Order.
And it is precisely because Christians persist in this belief that they remain blind to the reality of Zion.
Scofield served as the agent by which the Zionists paralyzed Christianity, while they prepared America for our final conquest.
SCOFIELD: THE MAN BEHIND THE MYTH http://home.beseen.com/belief/jamesers/Cyrus/Scofield.htm
This is a short biographical sketch revealing little known facts about the celebrated dispensationalist saint, Cyrus Ingerson Scofield, author of the Scofield Reference Bible. We are grateful to Joseph Canfield for his book, The Incredible Scofield And His Book, and to author Dave MacPherson for providing a good portion of the documentation.
Generally speaking, dispensationalists tend to cherish his teachings without any concern whatsoever for what kind of man Scofield really was. For some reason, his admirers consider it unethical or possibly even contemptible to expose embarrassing little known secrets about the man.
Facts should not be buried because they make people feel uncomfortable.
Neither C.I. Scofield nor his work are above reproach and considering the impact he has had on Christendom, his life should be examined. The type of person that he really was will have a major influence on the theology that he taught.
Former Dallas Theological Seminary President and student of Scofield’s theology John F. Walvoord, has written concerning the Scofield Reference Bible:
( typewritten copy of Scofield divorce decree )
Journal M, November Term, A.D. 1883, 8th day of December, 1883
Leontine Scofield Plaintiff Vs C. I. Scofield Defendant
Now comes the plaintiff by her attorneys Tomlinson and Griffin and the defendant enters for appearance and files answer and makes no further appearance. And thereupon this cause came on for hearing upon the pleadings and testimony and was argued by counsel upon consideration whereof the Court does find that the defendant has been guilty of wilfull abandonment of the plaintiff for more than one year prior to the commencement of this action.
It is therefore adjudged and decreed by the Court here that the marriage relation heretofore existing between the said parties be and the same is hereby set aside and wholly annulled and the parties wholly released from the obligations of the same.
It is further ordered and decreed that the custody, nurture, education and care of the said minor children Abigal Scofield and Helen Scofield, be and the same, is hereby given to the said plaintiff and the said defendant is hereby forever enjoined from interfering with or disturbing the said plaintiff in the custody, care, nurture and education of the said above named children until the further order of this Court.
Cyrus Scofield had several other incidents of a downright dishonest nature after he supposedly became saved. The fact that in 1892 he began calling himself 'Doctor Scofield' without producing any Doctorate degree from any Seminary or University is the least of his devious activities. Even the details he gave in his story of conversion are proven to be fabricated, including the time, place and other particularities, thereby placing doubt on the whole story .[iv]
He was a self-promoter in every sense of the word, even lying about being able to comfort and calm the entire city of Belfast, Ireland with a sermon he delivered there the Sunday after the Titanic sunk.[v]
His behind-the-scenes handlers [Untermeyer, Gompers, Baruch, Schiff, etc.] saw to it that his swindles and schemes were swept under the rug and that only a positive image of him was promoted, especially an exaggeration of his Biblical knowledge and wisdom. Men like 33rd degree freemason George Bannerman Dealey owner of the Dallas Morning News and member of Scofield’s church contributed greatly to the cause.
But occasionally, newspapers who weren’t loyal to his cause would put out damaging information on him. Here is an excerpt from the Topeka newspaper The Daily Capitaldated August 27, 1881:
"CYRUS I. SCHOFIELD IN THE ROLE OF A CONGREGATIONAL MINISTER
"Cyrus I. Schofield, formerly of Kansas, late lawyer, politician and shyster generally, has come to the surface again, and promises once more to gather around himself that halo of notoriety that has made him so prominent in the past.
The last personal knowledge that Kansans have had of this peer among scalawags, was when about four years ago, after a series of forgeries and confidence games he left the state and a destitute family and took refuge in Canada.
For a time he kept undercover, nothing being heard of him until within the past two years when he turned up in St. Louis, where he had a wealthy widowed sister living who has generally come to the front and squared up Cyrus’ little follies and foibles by paying good round sums of money.
Within the past year, however, Cyrus committed a series of St. Louis forgeries that could not be settled so easily, and the erratic young gentleman was compelled to linger in the St. Louis jail for a period of six months.
Among the many malicious acts that characterized his career, was one peculiarly atrocious, that has come under our personal notice. Shortly after he left Kansas, leaving his wife and two children dependent upon the bounty of his wife’s mother, he wrote his wife that he could invest some $1,300 of her mother’s money, all she had, in a manner that would return big interest.
After some correspondence he forwarded them a mortgage, signed and executed by one Chas. Best, purporting to convey valuable property in St. Louis. Upon this, the money was sent to him. Afterwards the mortgages were found to be base forgeries, no such person as Charles Best being in existence, and the property conveyed in the mortgage fictitious…”[vi]
Scofield’s work continues to be praised and utilized today by men with questionable motives. His closely guarded reputation remains intact and this information provided will only be useful to the truth-seekers, which represents a relatively small percentage of Christendom. At least two scriptures are applicable at this point:
"For there is no respecter of persons with God." -- Romans 2:11
"Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." -- Matthew 7:20
Scofield abandoned his wife and children and refused to support them. I Timothy 5:8 says “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” When his first wife Leontine originally filed for divorce in July 1881, she listed the following reasons: “
(he had)…absented himself from his said wife and children, and had not been with them but abandoned them with the intention of not returning to them again… has been guilty of gross neglect of duty and has failed to support this plaintiff or her said children, or to contribute thereto, and has made no provision for them for food, clothing or a home, or in any manner performed his duty in the support of said family although he was able to do so.”[iii]
This edition of the Bible [Scofield Reference Bible], which has had unprecedented circulation, has popularized premillennial teachings and provided ready helps of interpretation. It has probably done more to extend premillennialism in the last half century than any other volume.
This accounts for the many attempts to discredit this work. The reputation of the Scofield Bible is curious because each succeeding writer apparently believes that his predecessors have not succeeded in disposing of this work once and for all. This belief apparently is well-founded, for the Scofield Bible continues to be issued year after year in greater numbers than any of its refuters.[i]
This is the general concensus among dispensationalist leaders that because his work is around in such great quantity it must be correct, so they plug it. These men, however, through their heavy promotion of Scofield’work, are largely responsible for the popularity of it (they exhibit circular reasoning).
When giving the qualifications of a bishop, Paul states in 1 Timothy 3:2,4:
2) A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
4) One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
Did Scofield meet the qualifications for a leader in the church? His friends and colleagues have tried to hide the fact that he was married twice, had two daughters with his first wife and was divorced by her due to how he treated her and their daughters.
Scofield began courting his future second wife Hettie van Wark before the divorce was finalized and they got married only three months after it was.[ii] His divorce was finalized at least four years after he became ‘born again’. [end excerpts]
HOW DOES SAMUEL UNTERMEYER FIT INTO THE SCHEME?
Scofield was "taken under the wing of Samuel Untermeyer (Untermeyer) (Untermyer)..."
