Dennis Edwards: The Bible predicts that in the last days before the return of Christ when the world has become antichrist calling good evil and evil good, and evil doers having waxed worse and worse, a world leader with a fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up, Daniel 8:22.
Many eschatology experts believe a world agreement will be confirmed by many nations which the Bible calls a covenant and sometimes referred to as the Holy Covenant. The Holy Covenant may be initiated by the political leader who later becomes the Antichrist, or beast.
According to Daniel 9:27, the Antichrist shall confirm a covenant with many for a 7-year period. In the midst of the seven years, at the three and a half year mark, the Antichrist shall break the covenant, invade Israel and set up the abomination of desolation in the Temple or on the temple mount. Through inference, many assume the covenant has something to do with the Palestinian situation. When the Antichrist breaks the covenant, he stops the daily sacrifice and prayers. Since at the moment the Jewish people are not allowed to sacrifice on the Temple Mount, it may be the case that the Holy Covenant involves a solution to the Palestinian autonomy problem, while allowing the Jewish people to begin their religious sacrifice.
When talking to His disciples about the end-time scenario, Jesus signalled that the standing of the abomination of desolation in the holy place will mark the beginning of the great tribulation. Matthew 24:15&21. We see in the above interview a movement to condemn Israel and condemn those international leaders who have turned a blind eye to Israel's military actions against the Palestinian people. The Bible reveals that the Antichrist will indeed get involved in the Middle East situation eventually leading to Israel's invasion and then onto Armageddon.
