Hinduism and the Lamb Sacrifice

First writings are the Rig Vedas circa 1800 to 1400 BC

We have been taught by our gurus and pundits that there is no such thing as sin, only positive and negative karma; that there is no eternal heaven or hell; that there is only reincarnation based on karma; that all religions worship the same god; that all religions lead to the same god and destiny; that there is not one exclusive way to God and salvation; and that good deeds earn us salvation. These are the philosophies that we are taught.

When we read the original sacred writing of the Vedas and Upanishads, they teach us differently; they teach about sin, about heaven, hell, salvation from hell (Mukti) and one exclusive way to salvation through the Purush Prajapati. (The oldest Hindu writing is the Rg Veda, written around 1500 BC)

In the scriptures we learn the following:

That the soul will go “into the mouth of death”. Man, whose hands are soiled with sin, cannot cleanse himself from sin even though his intentions may be good. (Kathopanishad 3:10 -15)

The theme in the Rg Veda and the Upanishads is the nature and purpose of one supreme sacrifice known as the Purush Prajapati. This name is translated from Sanskrit as “the Lord of all creation who became man” (Sathpathbrahmana 10.2.2.1_2; Rg Ved Purushasukta 10:19)

After giving Himself as the supreme sacrifice, He resurrected himself (Brihad Aranyak Upanishad 3.9.28.4_5; Kathopanishad 3:15). By his resurrection, the Purush Prajapati conquered death and released sin’s stranglehold on mankind. He will return to earth only once more. At this point in its account, the Vedantic history of Purush Prajapati ends.

This Purush Prajapati is the one and only way to eternal life. “Nanyah pantha vidyate-ayanaya” (Yajur Ved 31:18).

This Supreme Creator took a perfect human body (Nishkalanka Purusha ) and offered it up as a self-sacrifice (Brihad Aranyak Upanishad 1.2.8).

He is the only sinless human being, and only in knowing Him does one obtain immortality (Chandogya Upanishad 1.6:6,7).

Acknowledging the sacrifice of the perfect Purush Prajapati imparts eternal life and we escape the mouth of Death. (Kathopanishad 1, 3.8, 11). The Svetasvataropanishad 3:8 states: ” I know the (one) supreme Purush … Only in knowing Him does one pass over death. There is no other path leading to eternal life”. Yajurved 31:18 concludes the same in the Purushasukta: “… No other way is known for eternal life. (Nanyah pantha vidyate_ayanaya”).

He was symbolized by a spotless lamb, which was the animal most commonly sacrificed in those days.* (Maddyandiniya Sathpathbrahmana III)

* The people place their sins on the lamb and the lamb dies in their place. This form of sacrifice is still a regular occurrence in several Hindu temples throughout India. In most religions, we find traces of the doctrine that ‘without the shedding of blood there no forgiveness of sins’. People sacrifice a lamb or goat as atonement, to make reparation for their sins.

When we look across the scope of history we find many greats from Buddha to Bahaullah from Aristotle to Gandhiji, from Ashok to Mother Teresa, but no one really fits the description of this prophecy in the Hindu scriptures, except Lord Jesus. He is the only one that resurrected as predicted in the Upanishads. He is the only one that physically sacrificed Himself as a lamb for our sins so that we can be forgiven. By accepting his sacrifice for our sins we experience Mukti and escape the mouth of death. By accepting what Jesus did for us, sin has lost its power over us and the fear of death has lost its grip and we receive the gift of eternal life.

 O Buda respondeu: "Mesmo que todos vocês dêem esmolas de acordo com os 5 preceitos, os 8 preceitos, os 10 preceitos ou os 227 preceitos por 9 trilhões de anos e vocês levantem suas mãos e se ofereçam como holocausto, ou orem 5 Vezes por dia, você não escapará dos resultados de seus pecados... Você não entrará pelas portas do céu. Os resultados do pecado e do carma são muito grandes, mais pesados ​​que o céu; mais densos que a terra... "

O velho padre perguntou mais: 'Então, o que todos nós devemos fazer?'

O Buda respondeu:. . . "procure outro Santo que virá e ajudará o mundo e todos vocês no futuro. '

O velho sacerdote perguntou: "Quais serão as características do Santo? '

O Buda respondeu-lhe: "O Santo que manterá o mundo no futuro será assim: 1. Na palma de suas mãos e na planta de seus pés estará o desenho de um disco, 2. Em seu lado será uma punhalada, 3. Sua testa terá muitas cicatrizes. Este Santo será o barco dourado que o levará ao longo do ciclo de renascimentos até o céu mais alto (Nirvana). Não procure a salvação no maneira antiga; não há salvação nisso com certeza. Saia da maneira antiga.

"Haverá um novo espírito como a luz de um vaga-lume, que descerá do céu para viver em todos os seus corações e você será vitorioso sobre todos os seus inimigos. Ninguém será capaz de destruí-lo. Se você morrer, você não vai voltar a nascer neste mundo novamente. Você irá para o céu mais alto. '”(Fim da leitura da Enciclopédia Religiosa)

O Buda diz claramente que o Santo, que vier, acabará com a reencarnação porque se você buscar a salvação no Santo, com essas características, então quando morrer, não voltará para nascer no mundo novamente. Você irá para o céu mais alto. Portanto, vemos claramente que o Santo acabou com o Samsāra, a roda sem fim de sofrimentos e renascimentos.

Vamos dar uma olhada mais de perto na profecia que o Buda deu. O Buda que viveu cinco séculos a.C., antes de Cristo, explicou como reconhecer o Santo quando ele vier, por meio de três tipos específicos de feridas. Essas mesmas feridas afligiram Jesus quando ele foi executado.

1. Na palma de suas mãos e na planta dos pés estará o desenho de um disco, - Jesus foi pregado na cruz com pregos romanos que tinham cabeças grandes, para que a pessoa não pudesse se libertar, estes deixavam um disco forma em suas mãos e pés. “Depois de açoitar Jesus, o entregou para ser crucificado”. (Mateus 27:26) “Eles traspassaram minhas mãos e meus pés.” (Salmos 22:16)

2. Em seu lado haverá uma ferida de faca, - João, um dos discípulos de Jesus registra o seguinte: “um dos soldados lhe furou o lado com uma lança, e imediatamente saiu sangue e água”. (João 19:34)

3. Sua testa terá muitas cicatrizes. - Marque os registros: “E eles. . trançou uma coroa de espinhos e colocou-a sobre sua cabeça ... E eles o bateram na cabeça com um cajado. ” (Marcos 15: 17,19 -NIV)

O Buda diz mais: "Abandone o velho caminho."

“Jesus disse-lhes: Eu sou o caminho, a verdade e a vida; ninguém vem a Deus senão por mim.” “Eu sou a porta; se alguém entrar por mim, será salvo” (João 14: 6; 10: 9)

O Buda diz, "um novo espírito como a luz viverá em seu coração '

“Jesus falou com eles. . 'Eu sou a luz do mundo. Quem me segue não andará em trevas, mas tem a luz da vida. '”(João 8:12)

O Buda diz: "Você será vitorioso sobre todos os seus inimigos. Ninguém será capaz de destruí-lo"

Jesus disse - “Eu vos dou poder para pisar serpentes e escorpiões, e sobre todo o poder do inimigo: e nada vos fará mal.” (Lucas 10:19)

O Buda diz: "Você irá para o céu mais elevado..."

Jesus disse - “E eu lhes dou a vida eterna; . . Vou preparar um lugar para você. . para que, onde eu estou, vós também estejais. ”(João 10:28)

Jesus não era cristão. Ele não deu a vida por um determinado grupo de pessoas, mas por toda a humanidade. Conseqüentemente, encontramos profecias sobre Ele nos principais sistemas religiosos de Sua época; no JUDAÍSMO, HINDUÍSMO, e aqui o BUDDHA nos direciona claramente a Jesus para que possamos ir para o céu.

Uma Oração: "Querido Deus, se você existe e o artigo acima tem alguma realidade, então, por favor, deixe Jesus se manifestar a mim. Se Jesus realmente deu Sua vida pela minha, para que eu possa ser perdoado por meus pecados de egoísmo e meu comportamento desamoroso, então me ajude a aceitar esse presente. Ajude-me a voltar atrás e perdoar os outros, que eu sinto que me prejudicaram. Limpe-me de todas as influências e poderes negativos e me conceda paz. Por favor, me dê o presente da eternidade vida e me encha com Seu amor, felicidade e força. Isso eu peço em nome de Jesus. Ajude-me também a estudar o que seus discípulos escreveram sobre Você nos Evangelhos da Bíblia. Amém ”

Minha própria experiência com o budismo foi positiva. Embora a leitura inicial do "Siddhatha" de Herman Hesse tenha ajudado minha caminhada espiritual, no final, nunca fui capaz de completar o caminho óctuplo. Eu não conseguia controlar meus pensamentos e, portanto, não conseguia controlar todas as minhas ações como pensei que deveria ter feito. Eu estava em um novo esforço e, assim como quando era católico e não era capaz de guardar os mandamentos ou evitar o pecado, agora, como budista, não conseguia manter a mentalidade correta, etc, etc.

Felizmente, ao buscar a Deus na verdade e seguir o mandamento do amor, Ele me conduziu. Por fim, dois jovens caronas que peguei me conduziram na oração do pecador. Recebi Jesus em meu coração, comecei a estudar a Bíblia com meus novos amigos, fiquei cheio do Espírito Santo e posso testificar com Buda que Jesus é o Santo que nos dá a verdadeira luz de Deus se abrirmos nossos corações a Ele.

Buddha Prophecy about The Holy One

Siddhartha Gautama lived around about 563 – 483 B.C. He left his princely position at the age of about thirty, to seek enlightenment and later to teach the futility of materialism. He is respected as the Buddha, the enlightened one. He developed his "Eightfold Path" to overcoming ones desires in order to gain enlightenment. In Thailand, in the Chiang Mai province, is the Wat Phra Singh monastery, where the Buddhist Religious Encyclopedia is kept.

Permission was granted to copy the Buddhist Scriptures regarding the prophecy of the Holy One from Wat Phra Sing in Chiang Mai Province. The person who gave permission was Phra Sriwisutthiwong in Bangkok. It is guaranteed that this copy is accurate according to the original, that there is no error in transmission, which is in the book of the district headman, the religious encyclopedia, volume 23, book #29. This inquiry was made on October 13, 1954 A.D. (Buddhist era 2497).

In Volume 23 book 29 we read this transcript. It is a conversation that took place between the Buddha and an old Brahmin priest. 

“When the Buddha was traveling and living in this world there was an old Brahmin priest who wore white robes and asked the Buddha, 

"How will all men and all Brahmins continue in their merit-making so as to escape the results of sin?‟

The Buddha answered, "Even though all of you give alms according to the 5 precepts, the 8 precepts, the 10 precepts or the 227 precepts for 9 trillion years and you raise your hands and offer yourselves as a burnt offering, or you pray 5 times a day, you will not escape the results of your sins. . . You shall not enter heaven's doors. The results of sin and karma are very great, heavier than the sky; thicker than the earth. . . "

The old priest asked further, ‘So what should we all do?’ 

The Buddha answered, . . . "look for another Holy One who will come and help the world and all of you in the future.‟ 

The old priest asked, "What will the characteristics of the Holy One be like?‟ 

The Buddha answered him, "The Holy One who will keep the world in the future will be like this: 1. In the palm of his hands and in the flat of his feet will be the design of a disk, 2. In his side will be a stab wound, 3. His forehead will have many scars. This Holy One will be the golden boat who will carry you over the cycle of rebirths all the way to the highest heaven (Nirvana). Do not look for salvation in the old way; there is no salvation in it for sure. Quit the old way. 

"There will be a new spirit like the light of a lightning bug, which will come down from the sky above to live in all of your hearts and you will be victorious over all your enemies. Nobody will be able to destroy you. If you die, you will not come back to be born in this world again. You will go to the highest heaven.‟” (End of Religious Encyclopedia reading) 

The Buddha says clearly that the Holy One, who comes, will do away with reincarnation because if you look for salvation in the Holy One, with these characteristics, then when you die, you will not come back to be born in the world again. You will go to the highest heaven. Therefore, we see clearly that the Holy One has done away with the Samsāra, the endless wheel of suffering and rebirths. 

Let us take a closer look at the prophecy that the Buddha gave. The Buddha who lived five centuries B.C., Before Christ, explained how to recognize the Holy One when he comes, by three specific kinds of wounds. These exact wounds were afflicted on Jesus when he was executed.  

1. In the palm of his hands and in the flat of his feet will be the design of a disk, - Jesus was nailed to the cross with roman nails that had large heads, so the person could not get free, these left a disk shape in his hands and feet. “When he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.” (Matthew 27:26) “They pierced my hands and my feet.” (Psalms 22:16) 

2. In his side will be a stab wound, - John, one of the disciples of Jesus records the following: “one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and at once there came out blood and water.” (John 19:34) 

3. His forehead will have many scars. - Mark records: “And they . . twisted together a crown of thorns, and put it about his head.. . And they struck him on the head with a staff.” (Mark 15:17,19 -NIV ) 

The Buddha tells further, "Quit the old way." 

“Jesus said unto them, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to God except by me.” "I am the door: if any man enters in by me, he shall be saved," (John 14:6; 10:9)

The Buddha says, "a new spirit like the light will live in your heart‟ 

“Jesus spoke to them . . ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but has the light of life.’” (John 8:12)

The Buddha says, "You will be victorious over all your enemies. Nobody will be able to destroy you‟ 

Jesus said - “I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19) 

The Buddha says, "You will go to the highest heaven‟ 

Jesus said - “And I give unto them eternal life;. . . I go to prepare a place for you . . that where I am, you may be also” (John 10:28) 

Jesus was not a Christian. He did not give His life for one particular group of people, but for all mankind. Hence we find prophecies about Him in the major religious systems of His day; in JUDAISM, HINDUISM, and here the BUDDHA directs us clearly to Jesus that we might go to heaven. 

A Prayer: "Dear God, if You exist and the above article has any reality to it, then please let Jesus manifest Himself to me. If Jesus really gave His life for mine, so that I can be forgiven for my sins of selfishness and my unloving behaviour, then help me to accept that gift. Help me to turn around and forgive others, who I feel have wronged me. Cleanse me from all the negative influences and powers and grant me peace. Please, give me the gift of eternal life and fill me with Your love, happiness and strength. This I ask in Jesus' name. Help me also to study what your disciples wrote about You in the Gospels in the Bible. Amen"

My own experiemce with Buddhism was positive. Though initially reading Herman Hesse's Siddhatha helped my spiritual walk, in the end, I was never able to complete the Eightfold Path. I couldn't control my thoughts and therefore couldn't control all my actions as I thought I should have. I was in a new striving and just as when I was a Catholic and wasn't able to keep the commandments, or keep myself from sin, so now as a Buddhist, I was unable to keep the right mindset, etc, etc.

I had traded one set of "commandments" for another and found myself utterly incapable. I needed a Saviour who could help me out of my dismal situation. Thankfully, as I sought God in truth and followed the commandment of love, so He led me along. Eventually two young hitchhikers I picked up led me in the sinner's prayer. I received Jesus into my heart, began to study the Bible with my new friends, got filled with the Holy Spirit and can testify with Buddha that Jesus is the Holy One who gives us the true light of God, if we open our hearts to Him.
