The Daily Voice - He that loves the world is the enemy of God - July 25

Dennis Edwards

Lord, help us to forgive as You want us to forgive. To love as You want us to love. Help us to speak the truth as You spoke the truth. Help us really be Your disciples, Your followers. It's not all harmony, happiness, and blessings, they may or may not come. It's standing for truth and love at the same time, fighting against a culture that laughs at Christ and pays lip service to His commandments. Not the commandments of men and the traditions of the Church, but help us to really follow Jesus' words. Those are the ones who really love Him. Those who are willing to stand up for love and truth even to their own hurt. Come and die for Jesus. Where are the true followers of Christ today? Jesus said, Pick up your cross and come and follow Me. Who are we really following? God, or ourselves, or the culture around us. Jesus said, he that loves the world is the enemy of God. Do we love God above the gods of this world? Or have the gods of this world become our God? Who will come and die with me for Jesus? Who will deny himself and follow Jesus today?

Why I Choose to Believe the Bible! - The Daily Voice

“I choose to believe the Bible because it is a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eye-witnesses during the lifetime of other eye-witnesses. They report to us supernatural events that took place in fulfilment of specific prophecies and claim that their writings are Divine rather than human in origin.“ Voddie Baucham

“Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eye-witnesses, and ministers of the Word; it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto you in order, most noble friend, that you might know the certainty of those things, wherein you have been instructed.” Luke 1:1-4 writing to Theophilus

“For we have not followed cunningly devised fables (like the evolutionary just-so stories) of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came a voice to Him from the Excellent Glory (the cloud of God the Father’s presence), This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with Him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well to take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scriptures is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” 2 Peter 1:16-21. Apostle Peter

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep (have died). 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:1-10. Apostle Paul

“The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: to whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.” Acts 1:1-3. Apostle Luke

This is the disciple which testifies of these things, and wrote these things and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. Apostle John 21:24-25

Who Comforts Us in All Our Tribulations - The Daily Voice

by Dennis Edwards

Sixteen years ago, my twenty-seven-year-old son died suddenly from a swimming accident. At midnight the 17th of March, Saint Patrick’s Day, I received a call from my son’s roommate. My son had gone missing and his clothing had been found on a nearby beach.

My first reaction was to get down on my knees and cry out to the Lord in prayer. As I did, much to my surprise, I had a vision of my son entering into Heaven to the joy of my parents and other departed loved ones. I immediately knew he would not be found alive. Five days later his body washed ashore and was found by some German tourists.

What helped me through those difficult days? What was the healing balm that enable me to continue on? Of course, having a relationship with the Lord and being able to hear His still small voice in prayer was a great help and stabilizing affect at that time. The words of encouragement that others had received in prayer for me were also very strengthening. Reading God's word, especially the Psalms, where I receive comfort from the written word was, also, important. Crying out to the Lord with all my heart in prayer was another important aspect of the healing and helped me in ways I probably do not consciously understand.

But perhaps the most important key to my healing in a tangible, physical way, that I remember most clearly above all the rest was the love and encouragement I received from others. For that to happen, I had to confess and share my heartache. The Bible says, “Confess your faults one to another. Pray one for another that you may be healed.”[James 5:16] Confessing to others what I was going through enabled me to receive the encouragement that I needed and was perhaps the key to victory and healing.

I remember my first day in Bermuda where my son had died. While asking for directions at a shop, I mentioned to the shop girl that I was the father of the young man who had recently drowned. “You poor thing,” she sighed. “Can I come around and give you a big hug.” On numerous occasions I received encouragement from strangers that I met in this way.

God promises to comfort us in our times of tribulation.[2 Corinthians 1:4] Jesus said He would send the comforter, the Holy Spirit, to us. He wants us to be comforted. But if we keep our troubles locked inside, if we keep the pain in, we won’t receive the love and encouragement we need and our healing process will be longer and perhaps never complete.

Therefore, do not keep those emotions hidden. Let the tears flow. Share your pain. Share your sorrow. In doing so, others will respond with the balm of love you need. Do not suffer in silence. Share your hurt and others around you will help heal it. God works this way to draw us closer to one another and be His arms and His hands and His lips and His ears to one another.

When we receive the love and encouragement that we need in our time of anguish, we are able later to return that love and encouragement to other needy or suffering souls that pass our way. “Blessed be God…who comforts us in all our tribulation, so that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” [2 Corinthians 1:3-4]

Minute By Minute You Must Walk Close By My Side - The Daily Voice

Minute by minute you must walk close by My side -
The Daily Voice

You shall seek and find Me when you shall search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

Minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day you must walk close by My side. You must keep in close communication with Me if you are to stay on the straight and narrow path of My will. It will take stopping, and waiting, and listening to My still small voice in order to maintain that close communication.

Prayer is one of the main instruments you will use in your relationship with Me. Prayer must not just be your speaking to Me. It must include your listening to Me. You must learn to listen to My still small voice in your heart. If you take a pen and paper, you can record what I am speaking to you, to review later, or share with others. Have I not said that My tongue is the hand of a ready writer? Pick up your pen and write that which I speak to your heart.

Reading My word and studying it, letting it speak to your heart is another important element in maintaining a close relationship with Me. My words are Spirit and they are life. reading My word ignites a fire in your bosom. My word is alive and powerful, and sharper than a two-edged sword. Let My word be food for your soul. Have I not said that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.?

Praise and thanksgiving are two more important disciplines one must embrace if he is to remain in close relationship with Me. Praise is the voice of faith and without faith it is impossible to please Me. Faith is the hand of the Spirit that unlocks the doors of difficulty. Faith comes from hearing My word, but must be put into action. Have I not said, Walk by faith, and not by sight? Take that step of faith and put feet to the things I tell you, while walking in praise and thanksgiving.

Forgiveness and humility are the final two I will add to the list, and stop there, before I add too much at one time. I resist the proud, but give grace to the humble. Therefore, walk in all humility before Me. Be not high-minded, but condescend to those of low degree. I am love. If you want Me to live in you and move in you, you must walk in love and in forgiveness to those around you. Forgive as you want Me to forgive you. Love as you would have Me love you. By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love and forgiveness one to another, but the greatest of these is love.

Prayer-craft Is Greater Than Aircraft!

From Streams In The Desert 2 (Mrs. Charles E. Cowman)

It is not the arithmetic of our prayers, how many they are; not the rhetoric of our prayers, how eloquent they may be; nor the geometry of our prayers, how long they be; nor the music of our prayers, how sweet our voice may be; nor the method of our prayers, how orderly they may be- which God cares for. Passion of spirit is what avails much.

There is nothing that makes us love someone as praying for him, and when you can do this sincerely for anyone, you have fitted your soul for the performance of everything that is kind and civil toward him. Be daily on your knees in a solemn, deliberate performance of this devotion, praying for others in such form, with such length, importunity and earnestness as you would for yourself; and you will find all little, ill-natured passions die away, your heart will grow great and generous. (William Lane)

The prayers of godly men and women can accomplish more than all the military forces in the world. Prayer-craft is greater than aircraft.

Because you prayed-
God touched our weary bodies with His power
And gave us strength for many a trying hour!
In which we might have faltered, had not you,
Our intercessors faithful been, and true.

Because you prayed-
God touched our lips with coals from altar fire,
Gave spiritfulness, and did inspire
That, when we spoke, sin blinded souls did see;
Chains of sin were broken;
Captives were made free.

Because you prayed-
The dwellers in the dark have found the Light;
The glad good news has banished heathen night;
The message of the Cross, so long delayed,
Has brought them life at last-
Because you prayed

(Charles B. Bower)

SOMEBODY PRAYED

Words: Louise J. Walker, Cephas, Bethy
Music: Cephas, Bethy

Hands reaching out over oceans and mountains,
Helping press onward when I was afraid,
Thirsty souls drank at the life-giving fountain,
Somebody somewhere had earnestly prayed

Chorus:
Somebody prayed and my burden was lighter,
Somebody prayed and my path became clear,
Clouds rolled away and the sunshine was brighter,
Jesus my wonderful Saviour was near

Faith flickered low as I battled affliction,
Jesus the mighty Physician was there,
Healing me, giving me joy in His presence,
Answering somebody's unfailing prayer

[Chorus]

Souls for the Master that afar I may gather,
Trophies at last at His feet to be laid,
"Well done" He'll say, but I think I will answer,
"It's all by Thy grace, Lord, 'cause somebody prayed"

[Repeat Chorus Twice]

Life is to Learn to Love! - The Daily Voice

By J.R.Miller from Streams in the Desert 2

The great business of a true Christian life is to learn to love. Mr. Browning, in his Death in the Desert, puts into the mouth of the dying Saint John these words:

For life, with all it yields of joy or woe,
And hope and fear-believe the aged friend-
Is just our chance o´the prize of learning love,
How love might be, hath been indeed, and is;
And that we hold thenceforth to the uttermost
Such prize despite the envy of the world.

Life with all its experiences is just our chance of learning love. The lesson is set for us-" Thou shall love"; "As I have loved you, that you also love one another." Our one thing is to master this lesson. We are not in this world to get rich, to gain power, to become learned in the arts and sciences, to build up a great business, or to do large things in any line. We are not here to get along in our daily work, in our shops, or schools, or homes, or on our farms. We are not here to preach the gospel, to comfort sorrow, to visit the sick, and perform deeds of charity. All of these, or any of these, may be among our duties, and they may fill our hands; but in all our occupations the real business of life, that which we are always to strive to do, the work which must go in all our experiences, if we grasp the true meaning of life at all, is to learn to love, and to grow loving in disposition and character.

We may learn the finest arts of life-music, painting, sculpture, poetry, or master the noblest sciences, or by means of reading, study, travel, and converse with refined people, may attain, the best culture; but if in all this we do not learn love, and become more gentle in spirit and behavior, we have missed the prize of living. If in the midst of all our duties, care, trials, joys, sorrows, we are not day by day growing in sweetness, in gentleness, in unselfishness, in thoughtfulness, and in all branches of love, we are not learning the great lesson set for us by our Master in this school of life.

"If God so loved us, we ought also to love one another." (1John4:11)

Why Didn't I Tell You?

Dennis Edwards

Why did I not tell you, I love you, more often?
Why did I not tell you, how proud I am of you?
Why do we wait when there is love to bestow?
Why did I let the unessential things,
crowd out my time, until you were gone?
Now all I have is my memory of you
and regrets of things I could have, but did not do,
to make your life happier and lighter.
I am sorry for the times I failed you.
I am sorry for the times I was not there.
But even now son you are teaching me.
And by the grace of my Father in Heaven
I will become a better father because of you.
Dear Martin, I miss you.
I love you. Dad

Who Comforts Us in All Our Tribulation

Dennis Edwards

God promises to comfort us in our moments of tribulation. Jesus said, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you," John 14:18. Apostle Paul wrote, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able also to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God," 2 Corinthians 1;3.4.

When she was praying in the early morning after the notice of my son's death, an ex-girlfriend of his had a vision or dream. She heard my son's voice speaking to her in the dream. I was in Bermuda at the time sorting out the things in my son's apartment. Waves of grief and despair were overwhelming me. I was having a hard time to continue. The Lord told me to stop and check my mail on my computer. The following is the message my son's former girlfriend sent to me via e-mail, a message for me she had received in an early morning dream.

"Tell my father I am sorry for not keeping in better contact. Tell him I am proud to have a Dad like him. Yes, we had had our disagreements, but that was in the past. Tell my Dad I have found peace - the peace that passes understanding. Paradise is marvellous, beyond words. Tell my Dad I am thankful for the things he taught me and the prayers he prayed. Tell my Dad to keep fighting and to brave the storm. I am in the arms of Jesus where I belong. Tell my Dad I love him and he must keep fighting the fight of faith. Tell him to be an awesome fighter for Jesus."

I broke down again in tears on reading her message. But now they were tears of joy, not of sorrow. My son was truly in the arms of Jesus, who promised to wipe away all tears and sorrow. Thank you, Jesus, for giving us hope. Thank you, Jesus, for forgiving our sins. Thank you, Jesus, for making things right. Safe in the arms of Jesus. Safe on His gentle breast. There my son shall find sweet comfort. There he shall find sweet rest.

Deep Dark Experiences! - The Daily Voice

Jesus speaking:

The greatest lessons we learn in life come from deep dark experiences. You must hold onto Me no matter how hard the road ahead may be. Keep your face fixed surely on Me, for I am the author and finisher of your faith. Look not to the left, nor to the right, but keep your face turned toward Me. I will give you strength in your moment of crisis. I will give you hope and faith to carry on. I will use your dark experience to bring forth light in your heart, the light of love.

The heart of stone had to be broken before the water of My love could be poured forth to refresh the people. We all must carry our pain bravely and realize that many secretly are carrying their own pain and sorrow without complaint. Be kind and loving to those around you. They may be fainting beneath a heavy load. Lift up their hearts to Me with a word, a prayer, a smile, and they will know that love exists. If love exists, then God exists, because God is love. Be brave. Continue to love others, as you would want others to love you.

An Oxygenated Cell Is a Healthy Cell! - The Daily Voice

Dennis Edwards

Here are a few tips about cancer and health I have picked up over the years.

An highly oxygenated cell is a healthy cell. How does that translate. Get plenty of healthy exercise outside breathing plenty of fresh air. Vigorous activity gets the heart beating and the lungs inhaling and exhaling helping to clean the cells of impurities. A half an hour of vigorous exercise, even as much as a brisk walk can suffice. Exercise also helps reduce stress which is shown to be a killer.

Lettuce is anti-cancerous so eat plenty of healthy fresh salads. Fresh is usually better with vegetables. Cooking usually diminishes the nutritional value. Garlic and onions are also natural antiseptics.

With apples, eat the whole apple core and pits and all. Apple pits are shown to have vitamin B17 which helps fight cancer cells. It seems that too much meat in the diet makes it harder for the body to fight cancer as the same enzymes that are needed to help digest meat proteins are needed to fight and destroy cancerous cells. Too much meat translates into not enough immune system fighting off the cancerous cells.

Water. Drink plenty of natural mineral water. Water helps keep the intestinal tract clean and flowing, preventing constipation. Colon cancer is more prevalent in men who suffer from constipation. Water helps clean out waste from the body and keep the blood oxygenated.

Brown is better than white. When buying starches and sweets remember. Brown sugar over white. Brown flour, whole wheat or whole meal rather than white, brown rice rather than white, brown integral bread over white. But its so expensive! What you pay for healthy food will translate in fewer doctor bills down the line. Invest in your future. Eat right.

If the vegetable/fruit is red like tomatoes or strawberries it has more value cooked. Have you noticed how cooked tomatoes or strawberries will leave a pan cleaner than when you started. That strong acid will also help in the cleaning of your insides. Use that tomato sauce and enjoy!

One health food advisory suggested to not eat anything your grandmother would not have eaten. Stay away from processed foods and foods with high sugar content. Cows who were fed only processed food lost the ability to carry an offspring to birth by the 5th generation.

Those are a few tips. Plenty more can be found on Google. Shop around. No one has an excuse for being ignorant. Eat right. Exercise right. Sleep right. Play and work right. Love right! And stay healthy! God loves you!

On the Death of a Son - The Daily Voice

Dennis Edwards:

I received the following message from the Lord on the way to Bermuda, where my son Martin, nearly 27 years old, had died in a swimming accident.

Jesus speaking.

"The eyes of the Lord are in every place beholding the evil and the good. Keep trusting Me. Do not look at the waves. Many will be looking to you. Be an example of My love for others. Be concerned for others. Show outward love. Do not worry about the decisions you will need to make. I will raise up counsellors to help you. Look to Me. Let Me put My arms around you. I will hold you up.

"Keep seeking Me in prayer. You are going through the valley of the shadow of death. I will be with you to hold you, and give you strength. Be not strong in yourself, but be strong in Me. Call out to Me and I will help you. Be gentle, be kind, be understanding. Do not let thoughts of regret and condemnation enter your mind. Use the weapon of praise. Be thankful for the things your loved one will not have to suffer in this life. The Indian proverb is to cry when a child is born knowing he will suffer in life, and to rejoice when he dies as his suffering ceases.

"Real life begins after death, where heartaches cease, and trials will be no more. Trust in these eternal promises which have held up My children from the beginning of time. Fight the good fight of faith. The present trying of your faith should bring out the dross that your faith be as pure goal. Lift up the hands that hang down. Rejoice for ever more that another of My children has entered into the Eternal Now to be with Me for eternity, Heaven is where time will be no more and where love reigns in the hearts of men. Call upon My promises of supply for your needs. I have said that I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. Be a faithful witness.

"Pray for your family member who will be meeting you. I love him dearly. Be a brother to him and love him as you would your own brother. Be cheerful. Spend the needed quality time with Me. Plan your day, but be open to the changes I bring your way. Tomorrow, you will need to speak to the company where your son worked and to the police. I will raise up an angel to help you. Trust in Me. As a father pities his children, so I pity those that love Me.

"I am the author and finisher of the life of each of My children. I give life and I take it. Trust not in yourself. Say not, "Tomorrow I will do this or I will do that," but rather say, "If the will of the Lord be, I will do this or that." The day is far spent. The night is at hand. Judgement must first start at the house of God. If the righteous scarcely be saved, what will become of the ungodly. Trust in Me. I am holding you in My arms. I am holding your son also in My arms. You need not worry, only trust in Me."

Be Part of the Solution: Be Positive! - The Daily Voice

Jesus speaking:

You need to fight the good fight of faith. You fight by filling your heart and mind with positive, encouraging, faith-building thoughts from the Word of God. Your mind is the battle ground. Begin your days with praise on your lips. "As a man thinks, so will he be," (Proverbs 23:7) Speak praise with your mouth. Yesterday, the negative comment you made about that person was incorrect.

Be thankful for good friends who know better than to get into negative conversation about others. That is what gossip is. My word clearly says, "whatsoever is of good report think on these things," (Philippians 4:8) Think positive and speak positive and you will be positive. The world is looking for positive people who can help lift up the negativity which they are feeling. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

Praise me for that little refresher course on the importance of speaking things of "good report." If it is not of "good report," then do not spread the negativity around to others. They are fighting their own battles with out you dumping more on their plate. Use praise and positive thinking, positive speaking, and you will be a positive influence on those around you. After all, you want to be a positive influence. Don't you?

Do not forget the importance of a touch, or a hug. Give a hug to your mate or loved one when you see them first time in the morning. Do not take them for granted and let familiarity overshadow your relationship. You have a wonderful mate. Appreciate her/him like others do.

Meditate on My words from 1 Corinthians 13:4-6. "Love suffers long and is kind. Love envies not. Love vaunts not itself, is not puffed up. Love does not behave improperly. Love seeks not its own, it is not easily provoked. Love thinks no evil and rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth." Rejoice in the truth of My word. Be thankful, Be praiseful. Love others in heart, word and deed, then you will be My disciple. If you know these things, happy are you if you do them. (John 13:17)

Has God Forsaken You? - The Daily Voice

Dennis Edwards:

Recently I was talking to an old school friend. He had been through a crisis with cancer some ten years ago. Around that time, he was marvellously saved and eventually healed of cancer. The Lord even told him he would not have to battle with cancer again. But just the past month he was found with active cancer cells once more. He was devastated. How could this be happening! Had not God promised him he would not have to battle cancer again? How could He break His word?

My friend said he felt like God had forsaken him. I shared with him some of the thoughts on this subject I had read a few months ago from the book God On Mute: Engaging the Silence of Unanswered Prayer by Pete Grieg. In the book, Pete shares his personal experience with unanswered prayer. His wife suffers with epileptic attacks. As a firm believer in the ability of God to answer prayer and miraculously heal, Pete prays desperately each time his wife suffers an attack. Most of the time, it seems God does not answer his prayers and they rush off for medical assistance to the nearest hospital or clinic. But at times, He does answer.

One time when they were vacationing in the mountains of Virginia, his wife had another horrible attack. However, they were far from any kind of medical help. Pete prayed as he always does. But on this occasion, God heard his prayer and his wife supernaturally recovered. But why does it seem at times that God does not answer our prayers? Pete goes on to explain how Jesus Himself had to suffer the death of a sinner forsaken by God in His death on the cross.

Remember the words of Jesus from the cross, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?" Jesus had to experience the feeling of being forsaken by God to become a high priest that is touched with the feeling of our infirmity. He has gone through this same experience and knows how it feels, so He can therefore understand what we are going through. That does not mean He will always reach down and heal us, as I explained to my friend. But he can give us grace for the trial like the old poem teaches.

God has not promised
Skies always blue
Flower-strewn pathways
all our life through;
God has not promised
Sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow,
Peace without pain.

But God has promised
Strength for the day
Rest from our labour,
Light for the way,
Grace for all trials,
Help from above,
Unfailing sympathy,
Undying love.

(Annie Johnson Flint)

I then shared with my friend the passage in Hebrew 11:36-39 where the author discusses some of the old great saints of God.

"And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise."

In other words, they suffered for their faith, and it seemed that God had failed them, and He did not rescue them, and they "received not the promise." But He gave them what they needed, he gave them dying grace. Some even raised their hands as they died as a predetermined signal to their family that God was giving them supernatural strength to endure the cruel death they were suffering at the hands of their enemies.

Two brothers were imprisoned and were to be burned at the stake for their faith. The older brother was to be burned first and so his younger brother, who was experiencing a great trial of faith, asked him to lift up his hands during his execution if God was giving him dying grace. Low and behold, just as the flames enveloped his body, the younger brother who was watching from his prison window saw his older brother raise his hands in praise unto God. God was giving him dying grace.

Hebrews 12 goes on the explain that it is through looking unto Jesus we are able to endure suffering and affliction and He will help us not to be wearied and faint in our minds. (Hebrews 12:3) If you feel you are fainting, wearied and unable to endure, maybe you need to spend more time in prayer and fellowship with Jesus looking unto Him for strength, faith and grace to carry on. Spend time with God. He will answer your prayers. He will help you.

God may not reach down, touch you, and heal. But He will give you the grace for the trial. He will give you His unfailing sympathy and undying love.

"Fear not, for I am with you: be not dismayed for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness." Isaiah 41:10

"Have you not known? Have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, neither is He weary? There is no searching His understanding. He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:28-31

Jesus Himself said, "Come unto Me all you that are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me for I am meek and lowly of heart, and you shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: In returning and rest shall you be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength: and you would not. Isaiah 30:15

If we don't spend the quality time with God that we need daily, we will run out of steam. He is the source of everything we need.

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say on the Lord. Psalm 27:13-14

And let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds. Hebrews 12:1c-3

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward. For you have need of patience, that, after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Hebrews 10:35-37.

Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid .... for the Lord your God, He it is that does go with you; He will not fail you, nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

Here's another poem by Annie Johnson Flint who suffered with a debilitating illness for almost 40 years and was bed ridden most of the time. She wrote,

He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength as our labours increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials He multiplies peace.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.

Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.

His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

Listen to it song below.

How to Get Rid of the Ought in Our Hearts

Dennis Edwards

I love the Bible. It is a great book and stands to be read frequently if not continuously. After I received Jesus it was the only book I would read for many years. I found it enthralling. It is normal when we first receive the Lord to have the hungering for His word. It gives us strength, counsel, comfort, knowledge, understanding and compassion. Reading the word and meditating on its truth gives us wisdom beyond our years and experiences. It becomes a filter on how we observe and absorb the world around us. David said, "I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy word." (Psalm 119:99,100) A good reading and meditating on the word of God would do us all good.

What to we do then about that ought in our heart about that other person? How do we get rid of it? Did Jesus leave us any advice? Well, I am sad to say, He did. I am sad, because it is not easy advice to follow. Most people will not follow it. They may think you are wrong for following it, also. They may do all they can to persuade you it is not the right way to go. I believe, if we follow Jesus' advice whole-heartedly, it will work. If we only put half a heart into it, we cannot expect much results. We will get what we put into it.

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you." (Matthew 5:44)

Jesus starts by saying we should love our enemies. Though we may have a feeling of hatred for those enemies far beyond the sea, most of our real enemies in life turn out to be more close to home. They may be a former loved one, former workmate, neighbour, spouse, in-law, son or daughter, boss or partner, employee or friend. It is usually some one close to us, or who was once close to us, that we have trouble loving. Most probably we feel that person did wrong to us. We probably feel they have never done restitution for what they have done. Therefore, we find it hard to forgive them. We find it hard to make things right. We will not forgive until they ask for our forgiveness. By taking that stand, we are making our obedience to the Word of God dependent on what they do. "We will forgive, when... "

That is not what Jesus said. He said, "Love your enemies." What does that mean? Is it something like doing unto them what we would want someone to do unto us if we were in the same situation? In I Corinthians 13 Paul talks about love. What does he say? "Love suffers long and is kind. Love envies not, is not puffed up. Love does not behave itself improperly. Love seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil. Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth." What about the verses we read the other day in Ephesians 4:31&32? "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: and be ye kind one to another, tender-heated, forgiving one another, even as God for the sake of Christ has forgiven you."

There we have it. The Word of God is powerful and hits right on target, if we let it. How then do we get the victory over that person whom we are having a hard time to get along with, that person who seems to be making our life miserable? Jesus said we need to love them. That is fair enough. Then He gives three specific things we should do to manifest love for that person. Are you ready for them? Then here we go.

"Bless them that curse you." First step is to start talking positive about the person who is getting you annoyed. Words are real things. They bless or they curse. If we are talking negatively about someone behind their back, it could very well be a form of cursing. Do not do it. Bless, or speak positively and do not curse. You will one day give account for every idle word. Proverbs 18:21 says "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." We will eat the fruit of our words. If we are sowing love and friendship with our words we will reap the same. If we are sowing discord or bitterness, we will reap the same. "What a man sows, that shall he also reap." (Galatians 6:7) We should be positive and talk positively about the person whom we are having a hard time to love.

Next step: "Do good to them that hate you." (Matthew 5:44) That is straight forward enough. Start doing good things to the person we seem to be having difficulty with. What ever little act of kindness we can think of. There are plenty of little or big ways we can implement it. Use imagination. Remember, we will only get out of it, what we put into it. What ever we do, we should do it whole-heartedly. It will eventually bear fruit. Maybe not after the first little good thing we do, but down the line, it will eventually bear fruit.

Our enemy is waiting to see if the change in our attitude toward them is real, or some kind of a trick. Be patient and consistent. Remember Jacob (Israel) in the Bible? When he returned to see his brother Esau, of whom he had robbed his birth-right and the blessing of their father, what did he do? Genesis 32&33. What did he send on to his brother ahead of himself? He sent substantial gifts to his brother. The brother who had vowed to kill him once their father was dead. By doing good and blessing his brother with gifts, he won back the friendship and forgiveness of his brother. "A gift...pacifies anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath." (Proverbs 21:14)

Now, let's go to the final step. I do not mean that the three steps are in any type of chronological order. I have often found that to go ahead with the first two steps mentioned, I needed to first apply the third step. Since Jesus mentioned the next step third, I have kept it in His order. "Pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you." That is how we often feel when we are living with or working close by someone who we are not in harmony with. We may feel they are doing things on spite and they may be. We may feel persecuted and maybe rightfully so.

Nevertheless, Jesus says to pray for them. I have also found, that I need to pray not only for them, but also for myself. I need to pray against any wrong attitudes I may be hiding from myself. Prayer is important and often the key or catalyst for spiritual progress. Start praying for that person who is making you miserable. Start praying for your own heart to be right with God and your attitudes to be right before Him. You will find, if you do pray, it will work wonders. Pray moves the hand of God. "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:16)

There you have it. Love your enemy by following these three important steps: positive speaking, positive actions and positive prayer. It is not necessary to do these in any set order, but do them we must, if we want a wonderful victory over that "neighbour" who is just dragging our life down. Try the plan Jesus gave and see what wonders it can work for you in your life today. Get those prayer muscles in action. Speak and act positively and you will soon regain a lost friend or loved one. As we change it may very well be that they will change, also. Start today. Tomorrow may be too late. God bless you as you pray, speak and act positively! You will not regret it. God will bless you as you follow His word.

I must note here that I read the following book some time ago which contains some of the ideas and arguments I have presented above.

PUTTING OFF ANGER
John Coblentz

Anger kills people, turns children into rebels, destroys families, and divides churches. This book looks at what God says anger is, how it becomes bitterness, and how it deceives those in its grip. Victory is reached when responses are motivated by faith, forgiveness, and love. This practical book shares insights valuable for counselors or anyone struggling with anger.
I recommend it for anyone dealing with the problem of anger and forgiveness. You can find at Christian Light Publications.

Pray for Our Enemies? - The Daily Voice

Dennis Edwards:

Does God really want us to pray for our enemies? Jesus, in his famous Sermon on the Mount, admonishes us to pray for those who despitefully use us and persecute us. Do you know someone who seems to be doing things to spite you, or is speaking despitefully of you? One Bible dictionary defines despitefully as: with malice, or taking pleasure in the misfortune of another.

Another dictionary defines malice as: the desire to inflict injury, harm, or suffering on another, either because of a hostile impulse, or out of a deep-seated meanness. We often feel malice and spite towards a lifelong enemy. In a court of law, it can mean, the evil intent on the part of a person who commits a wrongful act injurious to others.

Is there someone in your life right now who is rubbing you the wrong way, and he/she seems to be doing it on purpose? God's word says there is something we can do about it. We can follow the admonition Jesus gave, and pray for that person.

In Streams in the Desert 2, William Lane says it is impossible to harbour negative feelings, and thoughts about a person whom you are earnestly praying for. He says, its difficult to think and feel negative towards a person whom you are asking God to bless, prosper, protect, and supply for.

Let's do an experiment. Tonight, before going to bed, or today, while walking home, earnestly cry out to God in prayer for that poor soul who is giving your heart so much toil and heartache. If we follow the advice of God, and pray earnestly with a full heart, we should see some sort of results. If we continue in prayer for that person, God may even supernaturally remove the bad feelings and thoughts that we have been having. He may transform our heart and in turn transform the heart of the person who has been annoying us.

We have to do the obeying. We have to pray even though our emotions and thoughts disagree with the commandment of God to pray for our enemies. If we go ahead by faith, and follow His admonition, we may find we are able to rise above the present unpleasant situation. We may even find love and genuine compassion for that poor soul, whose presence has tormented us for so long.

Let's give it a try and pray for our enemies. I believe, if we pray, we will be surprised. Prayer moves the hand of God. Sincere desperate prayer can radically change any heart or situation. Pray. Instead of changing our enemy, we may be the one that is changed.

I am not talking about a little one day prayer. Overcoming negative thoughts and feelings about others through prayer may take more than just a few days. It may take weeks, or longer. It may be a constant and continual battle. However, I believe, if we in all earnestness and sincerity pray passionately for our enemy, we will experience results. It may not be a permanent victory. We may need to continue to baptise the person in prayer for the rest of our lives.

Similar to a grain of sand inside of the oyster's shell, we may have to continually secrete the balm of prayer over the sandy personality of our enemy. In the end, over time, however, a pearl will come forth. The pearl may be the deepening of our character, or the strengthening of our nerve, or the softening of our heart; but, a pearl we will have. The fervent effectual prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:16)

What Do You Learn from the Death of a Son? - The Daily Voice

What do you learn from the death of a son?

Message from Jesus!

All through life, my loved one, I am teaching you the lessons of love. Love is the greatest force in the world. It is also the greatest need of mankind. If you learn anything, you must learn to love, for love is the focal point and purpose of living.

Many go through life accomplishing great feats of sports, or politics, or acting, or business, or music. But, if they have not learned to love, it is all in vain. It will not help them through the difficult times in life. Nor will it help them in the world to come, where love is the cornerstone of every thought and action.

Teach the fathers to love their children. Teach them to be gentle and kind, like Paul so wisely admonished. Teach them to be loving fathers, to be understanding and patient, lest they drive their children away from Me with their callousness.

Many a God believing son or daughter has turned from their faith because of the hardheartedness of their parent. Fathers are too often guilty. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, your son is gone from you, and now you learn what you should have learned before.

The heart of stone had to be broken before the love could pour forth to refresh the people. Let your heart be broken. Let it be crushed. Let all semblance of pride and self be squashed beneath the power of love.

Fathers, keep a line on your children no matter what their age. They are still yours to encourage, to guide and to lead by your example. Teach your children to love by being that loving example, by saying you are sorry when you do wrong or say wrong.

Fathers, your children need you. Your sons need you. Your daughters need you. Be there for them. Forsake your pride, humble yourself, and make things right. Apologize. Agonize in prayer for them. Help them. You are their father, and they love you, or they want to love you.

The time is not too late. It is never too late to do. or say the right thing. Do it. Do not delay or you may someday fight the remorse for having neglected to do the most important task first: to love.

Bible verses for Fathers

Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Colossians 3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Colossians 3:!2-16 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. And above all things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also you are called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Discover the Reason of Your Life! - The Daily Voice

Dennis Edwards:

The past weekend, I attended a one-day seminar called "Discover the Reason for Your Life." It was a typical seminar aimed at helping each attendee evaluate his or her life, and then set short and long term goals. The part I found most interesting was the first exercise we were asked to do.

Each person had to write down the names of people and events which had had a strong effect on their lives. Then after putting the events and people in chronological order, we had to make chapters of our life: childhood, high school, college, etc. It was interesting to look back on the people and events that had had a good positive influence on our lives.

However, what I and the other attendees noticed was that the bad events were actually the ones that acted as catalysts for good. The bad events of our lives had propelled us forward. The bad events had helped define our character and made us what we were today. The seemingly bad events had worked together for good like the Bible says.

"All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28.

I imagine that not all bad events, necessarily, do that. If the people involved do not love and trust God, then bad events could work for evil in their lives. If they don't let God use the bad events to shape their character and make them better people, they could easily end up bitter, resentful, angry, hateful or with any other numerous negative traits and attitudes.

By loving and trusting God even in the most difficult situations and events, God can transform that bad or ugly occurrence into something good. He can use it to transform our lives, transform our character, or transform the lives of others for good. God is good. Whatever He allows to happen in our lives, He can use for good, if we love and trust Him.

It is up to each one of us how we will let life's events affect us. We can get down and discouraged with the dirt and muck of life. Or, we can wash ourselves off, by reading God's word, and by walking in thankfulness and praise. We can trust that God loves us and is using the events in our lives for good. Day by day we can try again. Like Charlie Chaplin used to sing, "Smile, though your heart is aching."

Apostle Paul wrote. "For which cause we faint not; though our outward man perish, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction ( or trouble), which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory," 2 Corinthians 4:16-17.

If you are going through a seemingly hard spot right now with an illness, a financial problem, problems with your children or family, a change in your work space, or the physiological changes of getting older: do not lament. Today's seemingly difficult spot is actually helping in the continuous formation of your character. What you are going through today is preparing you for the glorious victorious days ahead, which you have yet to experience. God bless you and help you to keep looking up. "The future is as bright as the promises of God." Hang on.

PS: I finally realised the other day, that all the hard things I had passed through in life were from God's hand. Here are some of the main "bad" things: Divorce after 15 years of marriage, court case over accusations of fraud, court case over accusation of child abuse in relation to home-schooling, death of a one and a half year old grandchild, death of a 27-year old son, death of a 45-year old son, death of a best friend of 27 years.

It is not that God caused the events to take place. However, God used the bad events to help transform my stony heart into a heart of flesh, a heart that He could use to love and help others. That's the goal: a heart of love. "For the greatest of these is love," 1 Corinthians 13:13b.

Life is a Struggle! - The Daily Voice

By Dennis Edwards:

Life is a struggle. Life is not easy. Life is complicated. Life is hard. Life is full of problems. What do we do? One time in Ellenville, New York, in 1972, after finishing a three-month intensive course
in Christian Living and Evangelisation, I was trying to decide what to do next. Should I take that offer in Boston? I asked a close friend of mine, what he thought was the will of God was for me. He replied by quoting a verse from the Bible.

"This is the will of God for you, in everything give thanks!" 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

The saying, "In everything give thanks," has walked with me through my life. I have found it is a key to overcoming obstacles and overcoming difficulties. The power of positive praise in thought and words is terrific. If you think and talk positively, you will be positive. You will act positive. Apostle Paul wrote,

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8.

If you are feeling down and out, remember you can change things. You can change how you act and feel by putting positive thoughts in your mind. You can start acting and talking positively. The choice is up to you. Your future is in your hands. You determine your tomorrow. What will it be? Will it be, "In everything give thanks!"

Valentine's Message from Jesus

Message from Jesus:

"Dear one, I want you to know I love you and will never leave you nor forsake you. You are Mine forever, tied to Me by a golden cord of love. Thank you for your love for Me. Thank you for your love for others. Keep your connection with Me strong through time alone with Me in My Word and in prayer. I will speak to you when you spend that time with Me.

"Keep being cheerful and positive. Keep being loving and kind. By doing these things, you are showing My love to others. You are drawing them closer to Me. Keep being My light to the world. I will bless you and make you a blessing to many. I love you, My child. You are a joy to My heart. Stay close to Me. You will not regret it, nor be disappointed. Happy Valentine's Day!"

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope for the future." Jeremiah 29:13.

Lessons from football on leadership! - The Daily Voice

Dennis Edwards:

It was in my junior year at college that I was elected player coach of the TKE fraternity football team. For the TKEs inter-fraternity football was important. The TKE fraternity club was not an athletic one like the SIGs who were members of many of the sports teams on the campus. Nor like the LUKs another fraternity whose members were mostly from the famous rowing teams at Marietta College. To the TKE´s, the stigma of winning the inter-fraternity league was important at least in their eyes, for their own self esteem and dating prowess.

My first and most important decision as coach was to appoint the quarterback of the offensive team. The quarterback is the player who calls the plays and organizes the offensive. As coach, I wanted a quarterback who would listen to my advice and who was respected by the players. I needed a person who the other players would do their best for. Of course, the quarterback also needed to be able to pass the ball, run and be a general all around athlete.

Before making the decision on who would be quarterback, I was feeling the pressure from different elements of my fraternity. Some thought Levy, from Long Island should be quarterback. He was a talented athlete, very agile, fast, quick moves, a good arm and as a senior should get first pick, some thought. Then there was O´Neil, from Ohio. He was a junior and a powerful athlete. He was strong, muscular, domineering figure but also with a great throwing arm. Then there was Terry, from Pennsylvania. He was a quiet Christian, a good athlete, but not as obviously talented as Levy and O´Neil.

In the end, I chose Terry. The reason was simple. Both Levy and O´Neil had the tendency towards pride. They both had big mouths and therefore offended others. The quarterback needed to be a person who would bring unity to the team. He also needed to be a person who would work well with the coach. It was not really a difficult decision to make, but I did get flack from both of the other player´s supporters.

We had a fantastic two years while I was coach, remaining undefeated. I used Levy as halfback who often ran with the ball and O´Neil as fullback. We made plays to give both these boys a chance to use their good throwing arms. Many of the players on our team were elected Inter-fraternity League All-Stars.

Another hard decision for me was to make myself center, the first year out. The center is the player who hikes the ball back to the quarterback. It is an important position as a bad hike can jeopardize a game. The original center was not proving very reliable in the first game. I decided to take the position. It was humbling for me to promote myself, but I knew I had to do it. At the end of the year I was elected All-Star center. It seems I made the right choice.

What I learned from my experience as football coach was the showy, loud-mouthed personalities are not necessarily the best for leading a team. Even a quiet guy like Terry, yielded to his coach, could do an excellent job and promote unity and teamwork which is what a good team needs to win the game.
